Take Heart Again

DISCOURAGED are you? Is life so very hard? The burden has crushed you, and you think that you must give up the strife. Sit down for a little and let us talk it over together. There was one discouraged once who had fought a great fight. Alone he had stood for God against the onset of an angry sea of opposition. With his single hand and prayer he had lifted up the standard in the face of the foe. But as the wave which had carried him upon its breast withdrew, it bore him far into the desert solitudes, where he cast himself, in a fit of utter discouragement, beneath the shadow of the frail juniper bush, asking to die because he was no better than his fathers. To him God's angel came with sleep and food, in the strength of which he rose refreshed to pursue his journey to the mount of God. Perhaps these words from one whose own heart has not unseldom become faint may be the inspiration of a new hope for you.
