This volume is based upon the book of Acts, but is definitely not an attempt to produce an exposition of the book as such. Rather, the author centers attention on the most important portions or "high peaks," such chapters as Acts 2, 7, 10, 13 and 15. The aim is to convey an over-all picture of the plan of the book in its totality.
The key verse is Acts 1:8. It contains an outline of the book and the program for the present dispensation of the Church. Here is the Lord's last commission, moving from Jerusalem, Samaria, and out to the uttermost part of the earth. It begins with the Jew, then the half-Jew and half-Gentile Samaritans, and concludes with the Gentile. Thus it is the transition from the old covenant to the new, from law to grace, from the Kingdom to the Church.
