REFUSE TO GIVE UP
Without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever draws near to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). It was by faith that Noah, being warned by God 120 years before the coming flood, constructed an ark to save his household. A great example of faith was a Canaanite woman, who cried out to Jesus, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon.” His disciples begged Jesus to send her away.He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But she came and knelt before Him, saying, “Lord, help me.” He answered, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table” (Matthew 15:20-27). Why did Jesus respond to the woman in this way? …“In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Chris” (1 Peter 1:6-7).

Unjustly struck down (Matthew 26:31-35)
My feelings affect what I hear from others. When we feel guilt, we hear condemnation. Even from Jesus. “You will all desert me” is the New Living Translation of Matthew 26:31. It sounds like committing apostasy, and it has been heard that way since the second century. But desert is...
