Church Planning: The Etch-a-Sketch System I Learned in Nicaragua - Charles Stone
When I was a kid, one of my favorite toys was an Etch A Sketch. If you’ve never played with one, it works like this. You turn the two white knobs in different directions to create a line drawing like the one in the picture. That was cool enough for us kids like me who … Church Planning: The Etch-a-Sketch System I Learned in Nicaragua Read More »

A Prayer for Your Church from a Methodist Lubber - Booty and Treasures fer All!
Only one thing be needed ter fill the pews, bring people to thar knees, cause hands ter be raised, and voices ter sing with praise. This will not be taken from her.” (Luke 10:42) As we consider how ter fight the evil so prevalent in our times, focus less on what we want from worship and more on what the Son wants from us. O Lord, you said to the church in Ephesus, “You have lost your love for me.” When we love you, we cannot help but love others, for we are filled with your Spirit and your Spirit is love.

Only One Thing Is Needed. Will We Choose What Is Best? - Booty and Treasures fer All!
Recently I participated in a survey from our UMC church that asked, “Why do you attend Worship?” I concluded my remarks by commenting on how every church runs the risk of devolving into the Church in Ephesus. If church attendance is down, enthusiasm lacking, fall in love with Jesus, again—or for the first time—and your church will need to rent or build a larger venue to hold all who wish to celebrate the union of Christ with His Bride. For your sake, O my God, do not delay because your people bear your Name.” (Daniel 9:4-19) If any of this resonates with your spirit, if you love Christ and wish to see (YOUR CHURCH) reflect his love and light into a world of darkness, I invite you to pray that all who call (YOUR CHURCH) home, will fall in love with Jesus again.

Trading Holiday Stress for Holiday Peace - Damon J. Gray
I find it fascinating to watch people from the time the Thanksgiving meal is cleaned up to the time we usher in a new year. As one who dislikes crowds, watching people is the only thing that makes being at the mall an acceptable reality for me this time of year. The facial expressions in…
