There is somewhat very interesting in this view of Solomon, on his entrance on his government. How beautiful is it to see magistrates first seeking grace and wisdom from the Lord, before that they take the reins of government into their hand. 2Ch 1:1-12 I. And Solomon [ 1Ki 2:46 ] the son of David was strengthened [a favourite expression with the writer of Chronicles. It recurs in chaps. 1 Kings 12:13 ; 1 Kings 13:21 ; and 1 Kings 21:4 . The meaning seems to be simply, "he became firmly settled in his government."
