It was not possible, at the moment, for this bereaved widow to respond to such a command; but the Lord never gave a command without supplying the power to obey it. This is still an imperative, with qualification, to Christians of all ages: "Sorrow not, even as the rest, who have no hope" (1 Thessalonians 4:13).
