The text does not say that the host had planted the sick man among his guests to test Jesus, but that seems likely. Luke’s description of the man’s presence implies that. Luke said: there he was in front of Jesus. The name of the man’s disease is misleading. Dropsy (Gr. hudropikos, edema) is a condition that causes the body to swell up due to the accumulation of fluid in the body tissue or the body cavities.
