Jeremiah 16:5

Jer 16:5 For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, [even] lovingkindness and mercies.

Ver. 5. Enter not into the house of mourning. ] Or banquets, whether at burials or bridals. as Amo 6:7 Of funeral banquets, see Deuteronomy 26:14 . These the Greeks called περιδειπνα , the Latins Parentalia. See Jeremiah 16:7 .
