Luke 1:72

72 To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

Ver. 72. To perform the mercy ] God’s love moves him to promise, his truth binds him to perform. See both these, 2 Samuel 7:18 ; 2 Samuel 7:21 "For thy word’s sake, and according to thine own heart (that is, ex mero motu ), hast thou done all these things."
