In this chapter,

(1,) The destruction of the Jews, still remaining in Judea and Jerusalem, in various ways, is represented by the cutting, burning, and scattering of Ezekiel’s hair, Ezekiel 5:1-4 .

(2,) The Jews, particularly those of Jerusalem, are charged with ungrateful and unparalleled contempt of God’s laws, profanation of God’s ordinances, and defilement of his temple with idols, Ezekiel 5:5-7 , Ezekiel 5:11 .

(3,) On account hereof, and answerably to Ezekiel’s sign, great wrath is threatened, Ezekiel 5:8-10 ; and a variety of miseries issuing in their reproach and ruin, Ezekiel 5:12-17 .
