Here,
(1,) Paul, coming to Ephesus, instructs some of John’s disciples, whom he found there, and who, by the laying on of his hands, received the Holy Ghost, Acts 19:1-7 .
(2,) He preaches three months in the Jewish synagogue; but meeting there with great opposition, he withdrew from thence and preached two years in the school of Tyrannus, confirming his doctrine by miracles, Acts 19:8-12 .
(3,) Some Jewish exorcists, presuming to make use of Christ’s name in casting out devils, are confounded; and many other practisers of diabolical arts are convinced of the wickedness of their actions, and converted to the faith of Christ, Acts 19:13-20 .
(4,) Paul defers his intended journey through Macedonia and Achaia to Jerusalem, and his visit to Rome, Acts 19:21 , Acts 19:22 .
(5,) Demetrius and his silversmiths raise a mob against Paul, to support the worship of Diana, and their profitable traffic, Acts 19:23-34 .
(6,) The town-clerk, by a sensible remonstrance, setting forth Paul’s innocence, and their own irregularity, appeases and disperses them, Acts 19:35-41 .
