Introduction

A.M. 4068. A.D. 64.

In this chapter,

(1,) The apostle infers, from the dignity of Christ, the author of the gospel, the duty of earnestly attending and steadfastly adhering to it, Hebrews 2:1-4 .

(2,) He enlarges further on Christ’s pre-eminence above the angels, notwithstanding his sufferings for a time, Hebrews 2:5-10 .

(3,) Shows that his sufferings were necessary, in order to our salvation and his own mediatorial glory; and that his assumption of our nature, not of the angelic, was necessary to the discharge of his priestly office for us, Hebrews 2:9-18 .
