Genesis 30:43 - Exposition
And —as the apparent result of the triple stratagem, though vide supra , Genesis 30:38 , and cf. Genesis 31:12 — the man increased exceedingly,— literally, broke forth greatly ( vide verse 80)— and had much cattle, and maid-servants, and men-servants, and camels, and asses —like Abraham ( Genesis 13:2 ) and Isaac ( Genesis 26:13 , Genesis 26:14 ). Thus far the historian simply narrates the fact of the patriarch's priority, and the steps which to it, "without expressing approbation of his conduct or describing his increasing wealth as a blessing from God.
