Of the five succeeding names, Bukki, Uzzi, Zerahiah, Meraioth, Amariah , it may be said that they reappear in the list of Ezra 7:1-28 ; but that little or nothing else is known of them. Lightfoot ('Temple Service,' 4. § 1) supposes that the change of priesthood family to Ithamar took place after Meraioth. But it is just as probable that the gap between Abishua and Eli, or possibly even between Phinehas and Eli, was filled by holders of the high priest office unknown by name to us.
