The fact stated, as in Jeremiah 5:1 , is that there was no one in all Jerusalem righteous enough to be either a defender or an intercessor, none to be a "repairer of the breach" ( Isaiah 58:12 ). Nothing was left but the righteous punishment proclaimed in Jeremiah 5:31 .
