Amos 2:16 - Exposition

He that is courageous among the mighty; literally, the strong in his heart ; i.e. the bravest hero. The LXX . takes the words differently, ὁ κραταιὸς οὐ μὴ εὑρήσει τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ ἐν δυσαστείαις , "The strong shall not find his heart (confidence) in powers." Naked . Casting away heavy garments and weapons and whatever might hinder flight. Virgil, 'Georg.,' 1:299, "Nudus ara, sere nudus."
