Verse 17
Daniel 3:17. If it be so— Behold. There is a God whom we worship, who is able to snatch us from the furnace of burning fire, and to deliver us from thy hand, O king. Houbigant. "As we are firmly persuaded of his power to deliver us, so we trust in his mercy and goodness that he will do so." They speak this out of a well-grounded hope, not from a certain foresight of being delivered; for such an absolute certainty would have destroyed the virtue of their faith and constancy in despising the danger which threatened them.
