Matthew 24:11. Many false prophets shall rise— Such particularly were Simon Magus, and his very numerous followers, the Gnostics. Such also were the Judaizing teachers, mentioned 2 Corinthians 11:13. Such also were Hymeneus and Philetus, of whom the apostle, 2Ti 2:17 complains, that they affirmed the resurrection to be past already, and overthrew the faith of some.
