And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.
Whose sign was — It was the custom of the ancients to have images on the head of their ships, from which they took their names.
Castor and Pollux — Two heathen gods who were thought favourable to mariners.
