Nothing material is more a man’s own than his body; and St. Paul might well emphasize the thought that every man should take care of the purity of his own. The strongest argument in favour of the meaning wife. is 1 Corinthians 7:2. Let every man have his own wife; which looks very strongly like a parallel passage, a saying the same thing in slightly different words.
