(1821-1901) Fourth Duke de Broglie. Great-nephew of Maurice Jean de Broglie, academician, born Paris; died there. His history of the Church and the Roman Empire in the 4th century, and his works on Louis XV's diplomacy have placed him in the first rank of historians.
