(Carla della Torre Rezzonico) (1758-69) Born Venice, 1693; died Rome. He was educated by the Jesuits. When Bishop of Padua he held a synod to regulate and sanctify his clergy. His pontificate was spent in opposing demands for the suppression of the Society of Jesus, from Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Holland, Poland, Naples, and Parma.
