A commission established by Clement VIII, and continued by Paul V, to settle the theological controversy regarding grace, which towards the end of the 16th century had arisen between the Dominicans and the Jesuits. After nine years of intermittent and ineffective discussions (1598-1607), Paul V dissolved the commission and reserved the settlement of the case to the Holy See. A decision has not yet been rendered.
