(Greek: hyper, over; doulcia, service)
The technical name for homage paid to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the Mother of God. Recognizing the unique dignity to which God raised her and the fulness of grace conferred on her, both supereminent, she. receives a higher homage than any saint; needless to say, however, an homage infinitely below that paid to God.
