An association organized in New York City, December 1, 1924. The necessity for such an organization was first advocated by the Saint Francis Xavier Alumni Association; the result of the first meeting of the committee was the federation, which was approved by Cardinal Hayes, December 17, 1924. The purpose of the federation is to further the educational and intellectual ideals for the attainment of which Catholic colleges are rounded, and to uphold and advance the ideals of higher Catholic education.
