The village Κeir Silwan is at the foot of the third height of Olivet, at the spot where Solomon built the temples to Chemosh, Ashtoreth, and Milcom; "the mount of corruption," E. ("before") of Jerusalem, the shrines being "on the right band," i.e. S. of the mount called in the Vulgate "the mount of offense" (1 Kings 11:7; 2 Kings 23:13).
