A son of Hebron (1 Chronicles 2:43); perhaps the meaning is a place near Hebron where one of Hebron's sons settled, from whence the family took its name. Smith's Bible Dictionary makes Tappuah colonized by the men of Hebron, the same place as Beth Tappuah. (See BETH TAPPUAH.) But the continuation of the genealogy, and Korah being never mentioned as a place, requires Hebron to be a person.
From the co-author of the classic Jamieson, Fausset and Brown Commentary, Fausset's Bible Dictionary stands as one of the best single-volume Bible encyclopedias ever written for general use. The author's writing style is always clear and concise, and he tackles issues important to the average student of the Bible, not just the Biblical scholars. This makes Fausset an excellent tool for both everyday Bible study and in-depth lesson or sermon preparation.Wikipedia
