SHAVEH, VALE OF . A broad valley ( ‘çmeq ), known also as ‘ the king’s vale ’ ( Genesis 14:17 ), which was near Salem. It is apparently the same place as ‘the king’s dale’ ( 2 Samuel 18:18 ), in which Absalom set up a pillar or monument. Shaven was possibly the broad open head of the valley of Hinnom which, lower down, contracts to a ravine.
