lit., "in work" (cp. Eng., "energetic"), is used (a) of the Word of God, Hebrews 4:12 (RV, "active," AV, "powerful"); (b) of a door for the Gospel, 1—Corinthians 16:9 , "effectual;" (c) of faith, Philemon 1:6 , "effectual."
