Carroll, Andrew a Methodist Episcopal minister,: was born in County Mohaghan, Ireland, Dec. 24, 1810. He was educated at Belfast; emigrated to Canada in his youth; was converted in 1830; and removed to Ohio, where he was employed as school-teacher, and where he joined the Church. In 1833 he was licensed to exhort, in 1834 to preach, and in 1835 entered the Ohio Conference. He continued his faithful, zealous labors without abatement until his death, Feb. 17,1870. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
