He graduated from the College of New Jersey in 1840, Band from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1844; became pastor at Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, in 1845; professor in Carroll College, Wisconsin, in 1846; teacher at Waukesha in 1847; professor in the University of Wisconsin in 1848, and died in office, March 8, 1885. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry.
