Sabai Version Of The Scriptures Sabai is spoken in several islands in Torres Strait, between Australia and Papua. The gospel of Mark was printed at Sydney in 1883 under the care of the Auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society. The translation was made by a teacher, Elia, who had been fifteen years engaged on the work, and revised by the Reverend S. Macfarlane, of Murray Island. John McClintock was born October 27, 1814 in Philadelphia to Irish immigrants, John and Martha McClintock. He began as a clerk in his father's store, and then became a bookkeeper in the Methodist Book Concern in New York. Here he converted to Methodism and considered joining the ministry. McClintock entered the University of Pennsylvania in 1832 and graduated with high honors three years later.
