As we meditate on the undeserved mercy of God in forgiving our sins, we will freely grant forgiveness and kindness to our husbands and children.

In fact, you get the feeling nowadays that doing anything outside of the home is more honorable than working in the home. Dorothy Patterson characterizes the current mind-set in this way: Much of the world would agree that being a housekeeper is acceptable as long as you are not caring for your own home; treating men with attentive devotion would also be right as long as the man is the boss in the office and not your husband; caring for children would even be deemed heroic service for which presidential awards could be given as long as the children are someone else’s and not your own.

The Bible seemed so big and difficult to understand, at times even boring. My self-discipline wasn’t strong enough. My attention span wasn’t long enough. My sense of Christian duty was not robust enough to maintain the reading long-term. Each attempt to read the Bible was clouded by guilt, frustration, and the seemingly inevitable failure. All

Frequently, I will read one or two selections from a devotional book as a means of tuning my heart before I open the Scripture. These books, written by human authors, should never take the place of the Word of God itself, but they can help us focus on spiritual matters and clear out any clutter that may be distracting to us.

I put my faith in Christ as a child. At a young age, I had a simple understanding of these basic facts: I was born a sinner; my nature is inclined toward sin. God, the Creator of all, establishes that there is punishment for sin. He will judge my sin, and I should receive His wrath.

Lorsque nous omettons de voir la main de Dieu dans nos situations, ou lorsque nous nous révoltons contre sa volonté dans notre vie, nous devenons vulnérables à la dépression émotionnelle et spirituelle.

Christians have done far more damage to the church of Jesus Christ than any sinners outside the church could inflict.

You and I will never meet God in revival until we first meet Him in brokenness.

I want you to sign your name on the bottom line, hand it back to Me, and let Me fill in the details. Why? Because I am God; because I have bought you; because I am trustworthy; because you know how much I love you; because you live for My glory and not your own independent, self-promoting pleasure.

Broken men and women don’t care who finds out about their sin; they have nothing to protect and nothing to lose. They are eager for God to be vindicated. David’s response when confronted with his wrongdoing was that of a humble, broken man. And his was the heart that God honored. Again and again, God’s Word reveals that He is not as concerned about the depth or extent of the sin we commit as He is about our attitude and response when we are confronted with our sin.

Millions of professing Christians are deceived; they are walking in ways that simply are not biblical. Their values, their responses, their relation ships, their choices, and their priorities reveal that they have bought into the lie of the Enemy and embraced the world’s way of thinking.

When people who are in authority in our lives make a mistake and we are there to help them fix it, that expression of kindness allows them to accept what they did as wrong instead of needing to justify or blame. It endears them to us, and the light of Jesus Christ is clearly seen in us. The next time we give our opinion, we can be sure they will give it greater consideration because we have earned the right to be heard.

What a stunning picture this gives us of God’s amazing providence—His ability to look ahead, know exactly what is coming, and make provision for us before we even get there. He is not only a God who can help us handle our current issues and pressures but One who has already prepared comfort, help, and blessing for problems that aren’t even on our horizon.

Because God created male and female, we women are innately feminine. Granted, a woman can accentuate her femininity or she can detract from it, but she cannot change it—our sex chromosomes are in every cell of our bodies. Our femininity is a gift of grace from a loving God.
