Matthew 10:5-Luke : . The Charge to the Twelve.— The section forms the second of five passages into which Mt. col lected the sayings of Jesus. The Markan account ( Matthew 6:7-1 Kings :) is followed by Luke 9:1-Deuteronomy :, but Luke 10:2-Joshua : (the Seventy) is from Q; Matthew 10:5-Nehemiah : combines the two sources. “Every one therefore who shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in heaven.” And they can be sure of one further thing, and that is that if they confess (acknowledge their oneness with, and bear witness to) Him before men, they can be sure that He will confess (acknowledge positively) them before His Father in Heaven.
