Righteous.] The radical notion of this important word in Hebrew is, by Gesenius and Davies, affirmed to be that of “straightness,” the quality of going evenly and directly to the end aimed at; but, by Fürst, is taken to be “firmness, hardness, hence strength, victoriousness.” Either conception is interesting, and well fitted to give food for reflection.
