Covetousness - Part 1

1 Timothy 6
I don't have a halo around my head. I'm a Christian that needed to be revived. I spent most of my life in the automotive industry at the big dealer level for many years. I developed not a desire, but a passion to be a GM Dealer. "When better cars are built Buick will build them." I had determined to be successful in business and that's half the battle of winning, but when you lay everything aside as long as it's legal then you find yourself in all kinds of trouble.
I worked for a man for ten years. He was so covetous that if he saw a kid selling ice cream on the street he'd buy him out the next morning if he thought he was making money. This grows on you as you spend time with a man like this. I was in management and all the kind of things they teach you, the way to do this and that.
I had come to the place where I was so determined and was compassionless that it brought a very high wall between my wife and I. I then got side tracked from the car dealership to the Auto Electric Division of General Motors. My wife Grace came to work for me. No ship leaves port without either the captain or the first mate on control. With my covetous spirit to be successful I let everybody know that I was in control of Burlington Auto Electric. It brought very difficult times in our home.
My daughter commented to me one day about the grandchildren seeing our life-style. I said to her, "If I have failed you children and our grandchildren, and our great grandchildren that they do not see Christ in my life then I have failed you. I'm glad she didn't see me when I was in full bloom.
Hosea 4:6 says My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge because thou hast rejected knowledge I will also reject thee that thou shalt be no priest to me seeing that thou hast forgotten the law of God I shall also forget thy children. I say to you how many of you are parents, grandparents? Are your children seeing Christ living out through your life? If they do not see Christ in you who are they going to see it in?
