Covetousness - Part 2 by Alex McCready 1 Timothy 6 I thank God for the days of revival that came to our city because I was on the road to destruction. Plowing, working, striving to be successful. I thank God for revival. The Bible says "A wrathful man stirreth up strife and he that is slow to anger appeases strife." I was an angry man. You show me a covetous man and I'll show you an angry man. A man that has no control over his temper I don't care how righteous he may think he is, but he is a sinner in the eyes of God Almighty. In those days when revival came I was in a meeting. God had to drag me half way across Canada to get a chance to talk to me at a revival meeting. I was so busy that God almost abandoned me. I sat through meetings. I was there Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. Thursday afternoon the message was on total surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Friends, I was born and raised in a Christian home. I heard my Dad and Mother pray. I saw them believe God. I saw them wait for God to bless. I never once saw my Dad covet something that somebody else had. I longed for the peace that he had, but I was so determined to be successful that I had lost the peace of God that passeth all understanding. Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion evil desires, greed - which is covetousness, which amounts to idolatry, envying, murder, drunkenness and such things.Covetousness is listed in that group of sins. The Bible says that they that do these things shall never inherit eternal life. I'm thankful that Jesus Christ saw fit that afternoon when the invitation was given to men only to respond to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and never look back. I made my way to the altar that afternoon and I made a commitment to Jesus Christ that once and for all I would surrender to his will. He didn't tell me to get rid of Burlington Auto Electric. He just told me He wanted to be President not just resident. For 10 more years after that we saw our business grow, we saw God bless our business. Today I can just say thank you Lord for ever calling me to repentance and to humble myself and let the Spirit of the Living God fall fresh on me again. I came home. I had to make some restitution at home. I had to begin at home. God has blessed our home and marriage. All our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren know Christ. I want my life to touch my family. You've heard it said you brought nothing into this world and you can take nothing out. Well, I say oh yes you can! Are you taking your children with you?
