How Not To Faint - Part 1 by Ron MacCormick A failing business, if it is to survive, needs a shakeup. A sick person takes medicine to regain health. A Christian, when defeated, needs new energy. "Let the people renew their strength." Isaiah 41:1 To have everlasting Life, one must first become a Christian born from above, into the family of God, then grow up. "Grow in grace…" II Peter 3:18 We can't make this happen, but God is willing. Christ in us does it all. The miracle of new life happens by faith, when we seek the Lord. My Personal Needs Be honest, we do fail., and become faint hearted. Self is the weak link. Matthew 26:41 "The Spirit is willing; but the flesh is weak". When the needle on the spiritual gas tank shows close to empty, be reminded there can be refreshing in the Lord. The problem here could be personal sin. Turning from God can bring loss and sorrow, but the Lord truly answers the cry of a broken heart. Sin breaks fellowship, but forgiveness heals and restores. Psalm 51 Christians can be carnal or worldly. Paul charged a whole church with this, I Corinthians 3:1-3. The Lord's people do all into dishonesty, hatefulness, lust, pride of self, hard attitudes, even complacency and indifference. Trying to conquer these sins ourselves brings more failure. Only the living God has power to forgive and cleanse and often lead to restitution. Small commitment means little radiance, peace and assurance. Christ must be supremely our Lord. Only then do we have a Gospel to live by, and a desire to serve God totally. Then, we reach out to the hurting world to bring comfort and hope. Believers need this fullness, to get on the job. "The harvest truly is plenteous, the labourers are few" Luke 10:2. The driving force in us is the Lord by His Holy Spirit.
