Sex, drugs, lust, money, alcohol, power. It all competes for out attention. In fact, we live in a world dominated by temptations. Most of which not only captures our heart, but destroys our lives and relationships. So how do we fight it? The 3rd commandment is about kingdom building and we are all expert kingdom builders. In Exodus 20 we discover why the 3rd and 4th commandments are so vital.

We love to focus on the “come as you are” God.  As Americans, we love that. We love that God accepts us, warts and all, and that’s true. We don’t have to change to come to God, but God help us if we stay the same. Because God is worthy of our best. <br />
We want God to be comfortable rather challenging, we want Him to give peace and grace, to be docile and soft, rather than to just and holy and calling us out to change. And instead of being our hiding place, we would prefer that God be our ace in the hole. And instead of allowing him to change us, we change him into what we want. And that’s what we’ll learn this morning as we continue in Exodus chapter 19. That God is more holy and just, and more wondrous than we can possibly imagine. Because if you come to the Lord truly surrendered and completely submitted to him, you may come as you are, but you will go away transformed. From this passage we'll discover  We live safely in the hands of a dangerous God.
