Isaiah gave for us to see a coming change for Zion.  His plea was to those who knew righteousness and whose heart was toward the Lord.  Their prayer was that God would deliver them from Babylon.  However, it was the people who turned from God.

The people finally take Stephen outside the city to stone him.  It seemed to have been their design from the time he was falsely accused.  This story points out many things for followers of Jesus, one of which is, it is most important to understand the Gospel!!

Isaiah continued his discourse reminding the Israelites of who God is, and that they swear by the name of the Lord, but not in truth. The Jews were also reminded of the error of their ways indulging in idolatry.

The Jews of the synagogue of the Libertines, Cyrenians, Alexandrians, Cilicia, and of Asia disputed with Stephen about the Messiah and Moses. Due to their lack of understanding, they found false witnesses against Stephen which lead to his death. 
The power of the Gospel causes wicked men to resort to violence. 
Examine for yourselves.

How disheartening!! 
Follow the remaining verses of chapter 48 and see how God's righteousness, love, judgement, deliverance, grace, mercy, holiness and all His other characteristics work in perfect harmony.

Isaiah stated that evil would come upon Babylon and they would not know from where it came. Babylon was deep in idolatry and believed in sorcerers, stargazers and astrologers. Christians should not delve in astrology at all!!

Isaiah expressed God's love for His people.  He proclaimed to them that He chose them and they were His servants.  Isaiah then spoke about their idolatry and against making idols.  God assured them that He had redeemed them and to return to Him.  How wonderful God is the us!!!

The chapter closed with God telling His people how they grew weary of His Worship. God reminded them of His Power in forgiving sins and how the people should remember Him. How do we grow weary of God? What a sad state of the people!!
