The writer in Hebrews 2:9 stated that Messiah Yeshua suffered death. He then provides four reasons whey Messiah had to die. First, "to bring many sons to glory" (2:10); second, that "he might destroy him who holds the power of death" (2:14); third, to "free those who all their lives were held in slavery" (2:15); and fourth, "to help Abraham's descendants" (2:16).

The writer than turns his attention to demonstrating that Yeshua should be responded to and obeyed because in addition to being superior to the prophets (1:1-2) and angles (1:4-2:8), he is superior to Moses (3:1-6). He is superior to Moses because while Moses was faithful as a servant, Yeshua the Messiah was faithful as a son (3:5).
