Sunday School Lesson Revelation 19:1-8; Time of Action: 96 A.D.; Place of Action: Patmos - Marriage of The Lamb - Jesus Christ The Lamb of God Throughout its pages, the Bible offers illustrations of both corporate and individual expressions of worship. On many occasions worship took place after a battle had been fought and a victory was won. At other times, the faith of God’s people enabled them to offer praise to God in anticipation of what He was about to do. In this week’s lesson, we are given a glimpse of the worship that will take place in heaven as Jesus prepares to establish His millennial kingdom on earth. Kingdom Agenda
Many Bible scholars disagree on the identity of the “twenty-four elders.” Some think they are angels, some think that they represent saints of all ages, while others think that they represent church age saints. From what we know about these elders seems to indicate that they are more likely representative of church age saints. The scene in Revelation 4:1 through 5:14 appears to take place at the beginning of the tribulation period and the “elders” are already in heaven. They are seen wearing crowns (see Revelation 4:4) indicating that they have appeared at the Judgment Seat of Christ where church age saints are rewarded for their deeds (see II Corinthians 5:10).
