Remodeling a kitchen makes it a bit challenging to prepare meals and clean up afterward and this short video shares the system we found to make the transition during these next weeks the easiest for our family.
A few things I didn't mention in the video that were a huge help were:
-Having a tray (or some sort of bin) to transport dirty dishes to the sink location. I would wipe down the tray and transport the clean dishes back with it.
-Utilizing my electric griddle, electric skillet, rice cooker, and crock-pot.
- I purchased Crock-Pot liners so clean-up was easy.
-Keeping a garbage can in the temporary kitchen location and where we washed dishes.
-Keeping a container of water in the temporary kitchen and a cloth to wipe work areas. I changed the water after each meal.
-Buying pre-cut veggies and bagged salads at the store as our budget allows has made it much easier.
-Washing dishes after each meal just makes things easier.
-We are eating a lot of toasted sandwiches, soups, salads, and stir-fry (electric skillet is a plus) type meals. Shredded Chicken Verde in the crockpot helped stretch bowl-type meals (rice, beans, salsa, etc.) which have become a favorite and simple to fix too.
I'll add more ideas as I think of them and please share some of your favorite tips in the comments on life without a kitchen for a few weeks.
