<h3>Restoration of Israel</h3>30 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you. 3 The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will bring my people Israel and Judah back from captivity and restore them to the land I gave their ancestors to possess,’ says the Lord.” 4 These are the words the Lord spoke concerning Israel and Judah: 5 “This is what the Lord says:<poetry>“‘Cries of fear are heard— <indent>terror, not peace.</indent> 6 <poetry>Ask and see: <indent>Can a man bear children?</indent> Then why do I see every strong man <indent>with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor, </indent> <indent>every face turned deathly pale? </indent> </poetry> 7 <poetry>How awful that day will be! <indent>No other will be like it.</indent> It will be a time of trouble for Jacob, <indent>but he will be saved out of it.</indent><poetry></poetry> 8 <poetry>“‘In that day,’ declares the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> Almighty, <indent>‘I will break the yoke off their necks</indent> and will tear off their bonds; <indent>no longer will foreigners enslave them. </indent> </poetry> 9 <poetry>Instead, they will serve the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> their God <indent>and David their king, </indent> <indent>whom I will raise up for them.</indent><poetry></poetry> 10 <poetry>“‘So do not be afraid, Jacob my servant; <indent>do not be dismayed, Israel,’</indent> declares the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>. ‘I will surely save you out of a distant place, <indent>your descendants from the land of their exile.</indent> Jacob will again have peace and security, <indent>and no one will make him afraid. </indent> </poetry> 11 <poetry>I am with you and will save you,’ <indent>declares the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>.</indent> ‘Though I completely destroy all the nations <indent>among which I scatter you,</indent> <indent>I will not completely destroy you.</indent> I will discipline you but only in due measure; <indent>I will not let you go entirely unpunished.’ </indent></poetry> 12 “This is what the Lord says:<poetry>“‘Your wound is incurable, <indent>your injury beyond healing. </indent> 13 <poetry>There is no one to plead your cause, <indent>no remedy for your sore,</indent> <indent>no healing for you.</indent> </poetry> 14 <poetry>All your allies have forgotten you; <indent>they care nothing for you.</indent> I have struck you as an enemy would <indent>and punished you as would the cruel, </indent> because your guilt is so great <indent>and your sins so many.</indent> </poetry> 15 <poetry>Why do you cry out over your wound, <indent>your pain that has no cure? </indent> Because of your great guilt and many sins <indent>I have done these things to you. </indent><poetry></poetry> 16 <poetry>“‘But all who devour you will be devoured; <indent>all your enemies will go into exile. </indent> Those who plunder you will be plundered; <indent>all who make spoil of you I will despoil.</indent> </poetry> 17 <poetry>But I will restore you to health <indent>and heal your wounds,’</indent> declares the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>, ‘because you are called an outcast, <indent>Zion for whom no one cares.’ </indent></poetry> 18 “This is what the Lord says:<poetry>“‘I will restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents <indent>and have compassion on his dwellings;</indent> the city will be rebuilt on her ruins, <indent>and the palace will stand in its proper place.</indent> 19 <poetry>From them will come songs of thanksgiving <indent>and the sound of rejoicing. </indent> I will add to their numbers, <indent>and they will not be decreased;</indent> I will bring them honor, <indent>and they will not be disdained.</indent> </poetry> 20 <poetry>Their children will be as in days of old, <indent>and their community will be established before me;</indent> <indent>I will punish all who oppress them.</indent> </poetry> 21 <poetry>Their leader will be one of their own; <indent>their ruler will arise from among them. </indent> I will bring him near and he will come close to me— <indent>for who is he who will devote himself</indent> <indent>to be close to me?’</indent> declares the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap>. </poetry> 22 <poetry>“‘So you will be my people, <indent>and I will be your God. ’”</indent><poetry></poetry> 23 <poetry>See, the storm of the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> <indent>will burst out in wrath,</indent> a driving wind swirling down <indent>on the heads of the wicked.</indent> </poetry> 24 <poetry>The fierce anger of the <smallCap>Lord</smallCap> will not turn back <indent>until he fully accomplishes</indent> <indent>the purposes of his heart.</indent> In days to come <indent>you will understand this.</indent></poetry>

Jeremiah 30:1

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord:

Jeremiah 30:2

The days<cr>1</cr> are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will bring<cr>2</cr> my people Israel and Judah back from captivity<ft>1</ft> and restore<cr>3</cr> them to the land I gave their ancestors to possess,’ says the Lord.”

Jeremiah 30:16
