Isaiah 1:24a 
"Therefore saith the Lord,…" Isaiah 1:24-26a 
"Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, (see how all this is strictly Jewish. We’re not dealing with Gentiles here one bit. Always remember that. After the judgment, after dealing with their rebelliousness, would come the blessings of God. 
All right, now when we start talking about the Kingdom, of course, that’s a long term. Isaiah 1:26 
Now, instead of being a city of harlots, it’s going to be the city of righteousness, the faithful city. 
"Zion (Now, remember, that’s another term for Jerusalem. It was a reference to Israel being cleansed of the unbelievers. 
Now remember, we’re talking about two different classes of people now. Under the oak tree. All right, so that’s the reference that under every oak tree there had been an idol. 
30. For ye(Now, remember, he’s addressing the unbeliever. A dead oak tree is worthless. 
All right, now we’re going to break into the sunrise of a precious promise, and that is a coming, glorious, earthly kingdom for the nation of Israel. 
Isaiah 2:1-2a 
"The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem." Isaiah 2:2b 
Now, in order to establish that he’s talking about this coming earthly 1000 year Kingdom, jump ahead with me to Daniel chapter 2, because everything is now going to be prophetically looking forward to this glorious, earthly Kingdom – on the earth. It’s going to be Heaven on earth. All right, then he comes to the end of all that, verse 43: 
Daniel 2:43 
Daniel 2:44 
a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed:…" It’s going to be Israel’s kingdom under Israel’s king. 
You remember when the wise men came to King Herod? King of the Jews." Even old pagan Pilate had a better understanding than the rank and file of Israel. It will be a glorious Kingdom which shall never be destroyed. 
Daniel 2:44b 
All right, now then, in verse 45 he interprets the dream in light of that Kingdom: 
Daniel 2:45 
I won’t read them verse-by-verse, but they are the same ones. 
The first Gentile Empire would be Babylon, just like the head of gold. All right, now then, come on over to verse 9 of Daniel as Daniel continues explaining his vision. Daniel 7:9 
Come on down to verse 13. Daniel 7:13a 
Daniel 7:13b-14 
14. And there was given him(God the Son) dominion and glory, and a (what?) kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, and they will serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion,…" Now, let’s go back and go a little further in Isaiah chapter 2, and we’re going to digress, if we have time and pick up some of the other prophecies that depict judgment followed by this glorious coming Kingdom. Back to Isaiah 2 verse 2, again. This is a key verse in prophecy. 
Isaiah 2:2a 
(leading up to Christ’s return) Now, you’ve got to remember – did Israel have any concept of a 2000-year interval between the cross and the Kingdom? God did not expect them to, because Israel had no idea that because of their unbelief, the Kingdom would be postponed. Isaiah 2:2b 
"…that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, (The mountains depict kingdoms. It will be above all other kingdoms that have ever existed.) and it shall be exalted above the hills; (even smaller kingdoms and empires) and (Then, here’s the promise.) all nations shall flow into it." There is no concept except that Israel would be the evangelists bringing the Gentiles to the knowledge of their God. 
Let’s jump all the way up to Zechariah chapter 8, and I’m thinking of this verse because of what it said, that all the nations will flow into this Kingdom which will be capitalized in Jerusalem where the throne of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords will rule the planet earth. All right, in Zechariah, chapter 8, begin in verse 20. Zechariah 8:20-22 
22. Yea, many people and strong nations (plural) shall come to seek the LORD of hosts(where?) in Jerusalem. Now, here comes a promise from God Himself. 
Now, of course, since Israel dropped the ball at His first advent and rejected this opportunity, they won’t have the privilege of winning Gentiles to their Messiah during the Kingdom. It’s plain English! All right, verse 1. 
Psalms 2:1-3 
Now, verse 4, this is God’s response. 
(Now, after they reject the King, they’ve crucified Him. Rome carried it out; Israel demanded it. Not mercy, this is judgment. The whole world, not just Israel. Not Israel exempted. What’s the blessing? 
Humankind rejects the Messiah of Israel. We know from Psalms 110 verse 1, God calls Him back to glory to sit at the Father’s right hand until He makes His enemies His footstool; which will happen during the Tribulation. "The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand." Why? Because the King was in their midst!

ISAIAH 1:1-2:2 
The remedy was in verse 16: 
That God is willing to what? Compromise. It was an absolute – "Come now" – it’s a settled fact that if you want to deal with your sin, God is more than ready in mercy and grace, even back here under the Law, to forgive their sin, to cleanse them from all unrighteousness. Isaiah 1:18b 
Now remember, God hasn’t changed. Romans 5:20a 
The Ten Commandments just simply shows the human race what’s right and what’s wrong. Romans 5:20b 
"…But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:" Now, that’s not license. Then he comes on down to verse 1 of chapter 6. If God’s grace is always greater than sin, does that mean that we continue in sin or do we practice how far down into sin we can go and still expect God to cleanse us and forgive us? Romans 6:1-2 
Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2. God forbid. Let’s go back to Exodus and it’s the account of Israel at Mount Sinai and the golden calf. It should be in Exodus about 32, if I remember right. Exodus 32:1 
Now, what could God have done? Drop on down in this same chapter 33, oh, I guess we can start at verse 18, where Moses now is confronting the God of Glory, and Moses says to God: 
Exodus 33:18 
"And he said, I beseech thee, show me thy glory. All right, now let’s just jump up to II Samuel, chapter 7, and, oh, the patience and the mercy and the forgiveness of God, first and foremost to His people Israel, but it’s no different for us in this Age of Grace. He’s the same God, with the same attributes. 
Now, look what He says concerning the nation of Israel as He’s speaking with David, and of course Solomon will be following in David’s footsteps. A direct descendent of David through Solomon. II Samuel 7:12 
"And when thy days be fulfilled, and shalt sleep with thy fathers, (in other words, he will die physically) I will set up thy seed (or coming generations) after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels (your innermost being) and I will establish his kingdom." In other words, it’s going to come down through the genetics of King David and God says, "I will establish his kingdom." All right, now then verse 13: 
If somewhere down the line they make bad choices: 
II Samuel 7:15-16 
(Then verse 16, here’s the promise that the kingdom will never fail to make its appearance.) 16. And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established forever before thee: thy throne shall be established forever" That’s God’s promise, that the Kingdom will be established forever. All right, back to Isaiah chapter 1, if you will, and verse 19; if Israel would just recognize that God is willing to forgive and cleanse their iniquity. Isaiah 1:19-20 
"If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: (God would bless them) 20. But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it." If we do not change our direction, if our nation does not stop going in that way of rebellion, God’s judgment is going to fall. America’s doomed. If America someday goes down the tube, it won’t be God’s fault. All right, verse 20 again: 
Isaiah 1:20a

Sound familiar? Verse 22. 
Isaiah 1:22 
Adulterating again. 
Galatians 1:6 
You took pure wine, diluted half and half with water and still call it a pure product. I’ll just give you one example, you all know Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ for it (the Gospel) is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth." Galatians 1:8 
God is serious!! 
Galatians 1:9 
It may be younger men; it may be older men. Doesn’t matter. If anyone) preach any other gospel than that ye have received, let him be accursed." My, what a judgment is going to fall on these people who are adulterating this glorious Gospel of Grace. Let’s come back to Isaiah once again, verse 23. 
Isaiah 1:23a 
"Thy princes (in other words, the upper echelon of their society, the men that should have known better. What’s the other word for it? Bribes. Isaiah 1:23b 
Now remember, I’m making the analogy on all of this; as Israel was, America is. Isaiah 1:24a 
"Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah,…" It’s an exclamatory word. God says: 
Isaiah 24b 
Who are God’s true enemies here? Israel! Israel, who should know better, Israel whom God is pleading with to turn from their wicked ways and come back and be obedient so that God can bless them. Jeremiah 44:15-17 
"Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying, 16. As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee (we’re not going to listen.)

Colossians 1:1-16 
Now let’s look at giving thanks to the Father. Ephesians 5:20 
"Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ:" 
So it’s still appropriate today, yes we do pray to the Father, and we do all in the name then of the Lord Jesus Christ, and we’re going to see that relationship in the Trinity in little later verses, but for now come back again to Colossians chapter 1. So Paul as he prays to the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ he has thanked God, the Father that He took these Colossians out of paganism, out of darkness, out of the chains of the satanic powers and translated them into the heavenly kingdom. Now Paul does not make a big a do about our kingdom relationship, because after all that’s primarily associated with the nation of Israel. 
But when Christ came to the nation of Israel, and John the Baptist announced Him, and He said the Kingdom of heaven is at hand, Well what was he talking about? The King was in their midst! As believers we’re married to Christ, in a Spiritual relationship, but nevertheless we are now citizens of this heavenly kingdom because God the Father has delivered us from the power of darkness. 
Now let’s go back and compare Scripture with Scripture. Matthew 16:13-16 
16. And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." 
Matthew 16:17 
"And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: (now this is the part I came back here for you to see) for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." 
Now let’s reconstruct. "…for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." 
In other words it had to be a super natural opening of even Peter’s understanding. (Reference I Corinthians 15:1-4 and Romans 10:9-10.) But would it have done Paul any good had the Lord not opened her heart? Peter, blessed art thou for the Father has revealed it unto thee. Lydia was the one who’s heart the Lord opened, now remember both of these people were in the same circumstance that these people are in II Corinthians chapter 4, as every human being is. 
II Corinthians 4:3-4 
"But if our gospel (Paul’s Gospel of I Corinthians 15:1-4) be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: (and that’s every human being until their saved) 4. Who is fighting constantly to keep people in the dark? "…lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." 
Now let’s look at verse 6. Now by the power of God this is what happens. 
II Corinthians 4:6 
"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ," 
God has to reveal it, God has to open our understanding. Paul is thanking God the Father for having opened the hearts and the minds of these Colossi believers and has delivered them from the power of darkness (v. 13). The chains of Satan. Well, that’s what God did with us. He took us out of darkness and He literally transplanted us into the Kingdom of Heaven. Let’s look at Philippians chapter 3 and verse 20. 
in heaven…" 
Colossians 1. God the Father has transplanted us from darkness into the Kingdom of His dear Son. 
So our citizenship is in Heaven. The abode of God. From whence we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Colossians 1:14 
"In whom (that is in the Son up there in verse 13) we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins:" 
Hebrews chapter 9 and verse 22. 
Hebrews 9:22 
"And almost all things are by the law (back in the sacrificial economy) purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission." 
Without the shedding of blood there has never been any forgiveness of sin. It was a blood sacrifice. 
Killing animals, or roosters or birds and sprinkling or spattering the blood all over. Why? That was Satan’s counterfeit. The true system of blood sacrifice was what God instituted with Adam and Eve and then bought it up and perfected it with the Law and the Temple worship. It could be a turtledove, a goat or whatever, but it was always a blood sacrifice. Because without the shedding of blood there has never been forgiveness. That without the shedding of blood there can be no remission of sin. Now let’s see how Paul enlarges on it. Come back to Romans chapter 3 starting at verse 23. 
Romans 3:23-24 
"For all have sinned (every last single human being) and come short of the glory of God. 24. Being justified freely by his grace (that unmerited favor) through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:" 
Now verse 25 
"Whom (Christ) God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his (what?) blood,…" 
There was no more need for sacrifice once Christ died.

Colossians 1:1-16 - Part 2 
"Who (that’s a pronoun, but it refers back to God the Son up there in verse 13. So it’s God the Son, who) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature." Everybody that knows anything about the Bible at all knows the verse that says, "No man hath seen God at anytime and lived." Genesis 32:30 
On the one hand it says, "No man can see God and live, and yet Jacob says, "I have seen God face to face." Now it’s not a contradiction, but you have to understand that God, the invisible triune God, no man has ever seen, how could they, He’s invisible! Well the best way I can usually put it, if I can use the blackboard, is that here we have God, the invisible triune Spirit God, but once man filled the scene and would now have to have some way of identifying with his Creator, what did God do? Well one person of the Godhead stepped out and became visible, tangible, over and over, and it’s always God the Son. God the Son is the member of the Trinity that has always been the One to communicate with man, and become the visible manifestation of that invisible God. 
So yes, no one has ever looked on the triune, invisible, Spirit God. But when God the Son steps out and becomes visible, and can communicate with man, it’s no problem whatsoever. Let’s look at verse 15 again. 
Colossians 1:15a 
"Who is the image of the invisible God,…" 
God the Son is the image, and what’s an image? All right then God the Son is the visible image of the invisible God. God the Son stepped out of that invisible Triune Godhead and in the person of the Son He became visible, He became tangible, and He walked among men all the way into the Old Testament. 
God the Son! I don’t call Him Jesus back in the Old Testament because the Bible doesn’t, but He was God the Son! When God appeared unto Abram in Ur of the Chaldees, who was it? God the Son! God the Son! Now continuing on in verse 15. 
Colossians 1:15b 
God the Son was just as much from eternity past as God the Father and God the Spirit. Remember that. He did not lay aside a portion of His power or deity, but He was always God! So just because He became visible, and appeared in Bethlehem in the virgin birth, He never stopped being God. Now verse 16. This visible manifestation of the invisible God is the same God of Genesis 1:1. And you know what that verse says, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Well this is the same God that we now know as Jesus the Christ. 
Colossians 1:16 
You’ve always got people who will say, "Well this is Paul who’s teaching Christ was the Creator." John 1:1 
If you have someone come to your door and they try to tell you that Jesus was not God, that He was a prophet or something less than God, and was not the Creator God, then this is the best verse I’ve found to confront that. Titus 2:13 
See you just can’t get around the fact that Jesus Christ is also the great God. I’ve showed them the verse back in Isaiah chapter 9, and they’ll say, "Yeah, but that’s the mighty God, that’s not the Almighty God." Because we’re looking for the great God, the Creator God, the God of the universe, and who is it? Jesus Christ! Now back to John’s gospel chapter 1. 
John 1:2-3 
"The same was in the beginning with God. Now who’s the Word? John 1:14a 
"And the Word was made flesh,…" 
The Holy Spirit never took on flesh, God the Father never took on flesh, but God the Son did, and so here’s the evidence. 
John 1:14a 
John 1:14b 
John says, "The Word became flesh, and nothing was made without Him" Paul says in Colossians "Christ is the visible manifestation of the invisible God, and by Him all things were created." "God, (this God right here as we have it outlined on the blackboard. This whole Triune God in His invisible Triune makeup) who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets. (Old Testament) 2. (God) Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son,…" 
Hebrews 1:2 
"Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom (speaking of God the Son) he (God) hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;" 
Now finishing verse 16 again in Colossians. 
Colossians 1:16b 
"Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: 23. It was) by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,…" 
God the Son! Because God planned it that way from start to finish. To purchase man’s salvation!

REVELATION 2:11 – 3:22 - PART 2 
The same way, Paul never has one word of condemnation to the Philippian church. The church at Philadelphia was much the same as the church of Philippians in Paul’s letters. Revelation 3:9 
"Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold I will lift up my hand to the Gentiles, set up my standard to the people, and they shall bring thy sons in their arms and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders. Revelation 3:10 
Come back with me to Jeremiah chapter 25. Jeremiah 25 dropping down to verse 29. This is prophecy. Jeremiah 25:29 
Ye shall not be unpunished; for I will call for a sword(now a sword speaks of death) upon all the inhabitants (not just of Jerusalem, but what?) of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts." The whole earth is going to come under this wrath and vexation. 
"A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth, for the LORD has a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; (not just Israel, now, we’re talking about the nations of the world) he will give them that are wicked to the sword saith the LORD. 32. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, this evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the borders of the earth. Now, come back to Revelation if you will and we’ll just jump ahead a few chapters and go to chapter 6. Revelation 6:8 
Revelation 3:10-11 
"Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation which shall come upon all the world, to test them that dwell upon the earth. 11. Behold, I come quickly: hold fast that which thou hast, that no man take thy crown." See now, there’s no condemnation here; this is all a commending from the Lord for this particular congregation. 
Revelation 3:12 
"Him that overcometh I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from God: and I will write upon him my new name." All right, now let’s go all the way back to Ezekiel and, if I’m not mistaken, it’s the last verse of the last chapter of the book of Ezekiel, chapter 48. Ezekiel 48:35 
It will be the name of the city. And it is the finality of God’s dealing with the earth as we know it even today. 
Revelation 3:13 
"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches" (or these assemblies). All right now, hopefully, we can wind up book 59 with this lesson, and hopefully I can finish these first three chapters of Revelation because I checked on our book 11 this morning and we started back in Revelation at that time in chapter 4. So, if I can finish chapter 3, then I’ve got the book of Revelation taught from start to finish. 
Revelation 3:14 
All right, now we’ve all heard about the Laodicean church haven’t we? And it’s always associated with the "lukewarm" or the end-time church. All right, now let’s read verse 15. Again, the Lord speaks of knowing their works. Revelation 3:15 
I would thou were cold or hot." Revelation 3:16-17a 
"So then because thou art lukewarm and neither hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth. 17. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods,…" The Lord continues: 
Revelation 3:17b 
"…and knowest thou not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked." Spiritually. Revelation 3:18-19 
"I counsel thee (or I advise thee) to buy of me gold, tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich: and a white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear: (That is the spiritual; this is what Jesus is talking about. Now, let’s go back and see how Paul uses comparative language for the end-time church. Now, look how Paul makes the same kind of comparison with the Church Age, and how we, too, are just as destitute, for the most part, as the Laodiceans were. 
II Timothy 3:1a 
II Timothy 3:1-2a 
covetous, (well, what makes people covetous? Materialism. Well, it’s all a sign of what Paul calls right here, the end-time, perilous times – blasphemers. They have no compunction about using the name of God in blasphemy and profanity. 
3. Without natural affection,…" 4. Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God; (Isn’t that true? Oh, they’re in church. II Timothy 3:5b-8 
All right, now let’s come back to Revelation chapter 3, for the last three or four minutes. Revelation 3:19 
Revelation 3:20-21 
(assemblies) Judgment, chastisement, warning! Even to these careless Jews in these congregations there in Asia Minor, the God of Grace is still the same. 
Romans 5:20 
There is no sin so vile that God cannot go beneath it with the grace of God and bring them out. We may be miserable, but God’s grace never stops operating.

Let’s just drop in at verse 9 where the Lord is speaking to the nation back here through Moses. 
"The LORD shall establish thee as an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God and walk in his ways.(Now, here’s where it’s going to spread out to) 10. Deuteronomy 28:11 
"And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 12. The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in its season, and to bless all the work of thy hand: and thou shalt lend to many nations, and thou shalt not borrow." Thou shalt not borrow." Deuteronomy 28:13a 
"And the LORD shall make you the head, (that is of the nations) and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath, if thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God…." Luke 1:67-71 
"And his father (that is John the Baptist’s father) Zacharias was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying. Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, (Israel). That we (the nation of Israel) should be saved from our enemies, and the hand of all that hate us;" You know, I always stop and ask people, who were Israel’s enemies then? The Arab world has always been their enemy. 
Luke 1:72 
"To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;" Remember what Romans 15:8 said? 
Romans 15:8 
"Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promise made unto the fathers:" Well, here Zacharias is repeating the same thing. Now, continuing on in Luke, verse 73. 
Luke 1:73-75 
All right, now come back with me again to Revelation chapter 2, verse 26. 
Revelation 2:26-29 
Now, let’s go right on into chapter 3. Revelation 3:1a 
"And unto the angel (or the leader or the minister) of the church (or the assembly) in Sardis write; These things saith he who has the seven Spirits of God,…" What are the seven Spirits of God? Isaiah 11:1 
Now here come the seven Spirits of God) 2. And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom, the spirit of understanding, the spirit of counsel, the spirit of might, the spirit of knowledge and the spirit of the fear of the LORD." Revelation 3:1b 
"…that hath the seven Spirits of God, (God the Son, Jesus of Nazareth) and the seven stars; (He’s the One who’s in control of these Jewish congregations. that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead."(spiritually) Dead! Huge mega-churches, but I wonder how much spiritual life is in them. You are alive, you’ve got all these works, but you are spiritually dead. 
Revelation 3:2A 
All right, so here’s the admonition. 
Revelations 3:2-3a 
3. Remember therefore, how thou hast received,…" The Word of God! All right, reading on in verse 3. 
Revelation 3:3c 
"…If therefore thou shalt not watch. (If you will not stay spiritually alert) Now, let’s go back and see how the Apostle Paul warns the Church Age believer in much the same way. Let’s go back to I Thessalonians chapter 5. Now listen, has the world ever been more prone to want peace than we are tonight? My, the whole world wants peace. Peace. 
Oh, if only the world could settle down and have peace, and so that’s what the anti-Christ is going to capitalize on. Revelation 3:3 
All right, back to Revelation again and pick up the words of the Lord Jesus Himself as He is now speaking to these seven Jewish congregations. 
Revelation 3:4a 
"Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments;…" It’s the way it’s been through church history. Revelation 3:4b 
Revelation 3:5a 
Does God possibly blot people out of the book of life? Moses and Paul both made the suggestion that if God would spare Israel, He could blot their names out, but of course, we know it didn’t happen. 
Revelation 3:5b 
Revelation 3:6 
"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." (or, assemblies) Now, if I understand Scripture correctly, there is no condemnation to the Philadelphian church. Revelation 3:7 
All right, now verse 8, this same Son of God, the Son of Man, can tell this congregation exactly what He told all the others. 
Revelation 3:8 
works: behold I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it; for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name." Revelation 3:9a 
Does that sound like church language to you? The church is never referred to as a "synagogue" 
Revelation 3b 
"…which say they are Jews, (Church language? Hardly!) 
"Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from…"

My, mail time is just a thrill when we read all these letters of how you’ve gotten a new insight into Scripture. We just thank the Lord for it. Okay, back to Revelation chapter 2, verse 9. 
Our churches are full of people who claim to be believers but they’re not, they’re following a false god. Revelation 2:9c 
"…but they are the synagogue of Satan." 
Now, that didn’t mean that they were not Jews by blood, but Jews by faith. All right now, Paul warns us of much the same way for this Age of Grace. My, the world is full of these false teachers. Because if they’re not in the Scriptures and truthful with it, then they do not merit your time. All right, verse 13 of II Corinthians 11, and my, what a statement under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Paul says: 
II Corinthians 11:13 
"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ." 
II Corinthians 11:14 
an angel of light." 
"…for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15. Therefore it is not a great thing (it’s nothing to be surprised about) if his ministers (Satan’s ministers – not God’s) are transformed as the ministers of righteousness;…" 
False! All right, it was the same way with these Jews.Satan doesn’t care who he deals with, whether it’s Gentiles or Jews, his end is the same. 
Revelations 2:9b-10a 
10. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer:…" 
Could we handle intense persecution? Alright, so he says to these Jews: "But fear none of these things which thou shall suffer:…" 
Jeremiah 25 verse 29. All right, Jeremiah 25:29. Jeremiah 25:29-30 
Jerusalem) and should ye be utterly unpunished? It will be at the very center, just like it’s been with everything else in God’s dealing with the human race, so also with His judgments) saith the LORD of host. 30. Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, (and this is what God says, and God doesn’t lie) The LORD shall roar from on high, (now this is of course at the time of His Second Coming. Where does He speak of the grapes? 63? Yeah. Isaiah 63, and this compares word for word with Revelation where you have the same scenario. Ok, let’s look first at Isaiah, chapter 63. Let’s just begin with verse 1. Isaiah 63:1-2 
2. Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that (what?) treadeth in the wine vat?" 
Well, use a little imagination. We don’t do it here anymore, but in the Middle East, I know because we’ve been there and we’ve seen their wine vat. Well, if you tramp the grapes, how are you going to look? Grape juice splatters all over you. Isaiah 63:3-6 
Well it isn’t. 6. And I will tread down the people in my anger, I will make them drunk in my fury, I will bring down their strength to the earth." 
That’s the vengeance of God that’s coming. Revelation 14:14 
Earlier today in Revelation. The Son of man, the Christ, Jesus of Nazareth) having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle." 
Now, you’ve got to remember when you’re reading Scripture, and words come up, you have to understand the symbolic meaning. Well, the sickle here is speaking then of a harvest -God’s harvest. Revelation 14:15 
"And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him who sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap, for the time is come for thee to reap the harvest of the earth is ripe, (and the Greek really implies, "over-ripe." It’s past time, God has already extended grace even longer than He would have had to.) 16. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. Revelation 14:18-19a 
The humanity that is still on the earth at the end of the Tribulation) 19. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth,…" 
Revelation 14:19b 
"…and gathers the vine of the earth, (which is the armies of the world) and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God." 
How much nicer to proclaim the grace of God. (I Corinthians 15:1-4) Revelation 14:20 
We were in verse 30. 
Jeremiah 25:30b-32a 
LORD) shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. A noise shall even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD (God the Son, the Son of Man, Jesus of Nazareth, all the titles you can put on Him) has a controversy with the nations, (not just Israel, now. 
"…and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the borders of the earth." 
Alright, now then, let’s come back where we were in Revelation chapter 2 verse 10 again, so he says: 
Revelation 2:10a 
Now the Lord says) and ye shall have tribulation ten days;…" 
Let’s go back and see how Scripture deals with ten days, not men’s ideas, but how does God use the term. 
All right now, let’s pick up the story. Let’s pick it up in verse 49.

All right, we’re going to get right back where we left off, Revelation chapter 2, and verse 1. Paul calls that "rightly dividing the Word of Truth," which makes everything fit so beautifully. 
All right, Revelation chapter 2. Now remember, we’re dealing with seven Jewish congregations in Western Turkey, who have more or less taken the place of God’s dealing in preparation for the wrath and vexation that at this point in time is still right out in front of them. 
Now, I’m going to quit using the word church if we’re not using Paul’s writings, because I’ve explained why I don’t like it. It comes from the Greek word "ecclesia" which is a called out assembly, but these were mostly synagogues. Revelation 2:1 
Now verse 2, and remember this is the Lord Jesus Himself speaking. If you have a red-letter edition Bible, it’ll all be in red. And Jesus says to this synagogue of believing Jews - Now when I say believing Jews, I trust you all know what I’m talking about. These are Jews who are still under the Law, but they have recognized and believed for salvation that Jesus of Nazareth was their Messiah. 
2. For I (God says) will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle;…" 
That’s what we refer to as the Battle of Armageddon; when all the nations of the world that are left, will be brought to the nation of Israel by the anti-Christ in one great final push to destroy the Jewish nation, and it ends up in a battle against Israel’s Christ. The Jew. Oh, they hate them. One little eleven-year old chickened out. "The Arab world loves death more than the Jews loves life." 
"And the LORD (Jehovah, God the Son) shall be king over all the earth: (not just Israel. "Next year Jerusalem" Well, why Jerusalem? All right, back to Revelation, and the very first verse of chapter 2; he’s dealing with the congregation there at Ephesus. But my own take on this is that this is a separate Jewish congregation, removed from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. Verse 2. This is the Lord Jesus commenting on this particular congregation. Well, that’s the way these little letters were meant to deal with these Jewish congregations. 
"I know thy works…" That smacks of Law, doesn’t it? Law is works, works, works and Jesus knew that their works were according to the Law. Revelation 2:2b 
"…and thy labor, and thy patience, and how thou cannot bear them who are evil;…" 
Revelation 2:2c 
I John 4:1-2 
"Beloved, (so he’s writing to again these Jewish believers) believe not every spirit, but try (or test) the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2. Hereby know you the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:" 
"Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God!" In John 11 we have Martha’s confession: 
John 11:24-27 
25. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26. Believest thou this? 27. She (Martha) saith unto him, Yea, Lord, I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world." 
All right, John carries it on here to these little Jewish congregations; that if you confess that Jesus is the Christ and that He’s the Son of God, then you have the Spirit of God. All right verse 3: 
I John 4:3a 
"And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God:…" 
In other words, if someone can’t believe that Jesus was God manifested in the flesh, he has no hope of eternal life until he has a change of heart on that. 
I John 4:3b 
Liars! Revelation 2:3-4 
Not a word! Not a word about the resurrection. Not a word about Christ having died for our sin. Not a word about being in the Body of Christ. Revelation 2:5a 
So Jesus writes through the pen of John,) repent,…" 
Revelation 2:5b 
Before very many years went by, these Jewish synagogue congregations totally disappeared. And of course with them, so also went Paul’s congregations. The same thing that happened to Paul and his little Gentile congregations happened to the seven Jewish congregations in that same area of the world. Turkey! "Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. About the same thing is happening to the Jewish synagogue. 
Revelation 2:6 
"But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate." 
Revelation 2:7a 
Revelation 2:7b 
Now of course, you have to realize that the Jewish believers, as well as Paul’s believers, were under intense persecution at this time. Revelation 2:8 
Is Jesus associating salvation with their believing that? No! Revelation 2:9a 
"I know thy works,… Works! Whenever you have a works religion, it is work, work, work. Because you don’t know if you’ve worked enough.

"And hath made us (Jews) kings and priests unto God his Father; to him be glory and dominion…" Go back to Exodus chapter 19. And you see Paul never uses that term (kings and priest). It’s for Israel! Let’s turn to Exodus 19. Exodus 19:3 
"And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain (that is Mt. Sinai) and he says, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;" Now, stop and think. Exodus 19:4-6 
6. And ye (Israel) shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation." Now, do you see how that’s almost word for word what John just said in Revelation. Peter uses this same identical language. I Peter 2:9 
priesthood, an holy nation, (the word "holy" simply means set apart for God’s purposes. They were a set apart people for God’s purposes) a peculiar people; (That’s exact language) that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:" That’s how Peter puts it. Now, once again back to Revelation and verse 7. 
Revelation 1:7a 
"Behold, (John writes) he (the Messiah, the Son, the returning Christ) cometh with (what?) Now, let’s just back up one page to Jude, verse 14: 
Now, back to Revelation, again; verse 7: 
Revelation 1:7a 
Revelation 1:17b 
Come back again to the Old Testament, and again I want you to realize that these are all Old Testament references which tie it all to the nation of Israel. The exact language, and how can anybody separate what God says to Israel in the Old Testament prophets and what He’s saying to Israel from the words of the apostle John. Zechariah chapter 12 verse 10 where God says through the prophet: 
Zechariah 12:10 
Joseph. Go to chapter 45 of Genesis. And let’s just start at verse 1, and we’ll hit just a few of the pertinent verses. Now, remember what we’re talking about. Genesis 45:1-3 
3. And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? Genesis 45:5 
Genesis 45:6-7 
Genesis 45:13-14a 
Joy! Joy unspeakable! Now, verse 15. Genesis 45:15 
All right, back to Revelation chapter 1 verse 8. Now, the Lord is speaking through the Apostle John and He says: 
Revelation 1:8 
Now, if you start making a study of this Book of Revelation, you will find that John uses the same terms of Deity that the Old Testament uses, but Paul does not. Paul never refers to – for example - term the "Son of Man". John the Jewish writer, writing to Jews. Isaiah the Jewish prophet writing to the Jews. Isaiah 41:4 
Exodus 3:5-6 
6. Moreover he said, (the burning bush) I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, the God of Jacob. God." So, who’s the burning bush? God." All right, move on down to verse 13. All the way through it’s a constant reference to the Lord and to God. 
Exodus 3:13-14 
"And Moses said unto God, (there at the burning bush) Behold, when I come to the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? (What’s the name of this God you’re talking about? 14. And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM; Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." See how plain that is, and this is the Lord, this is God the Son speaking. Come back to Isaiah chapter 9, and we’ll begin with verse 6. Now, these were all Old Testament terms concerning the Son. Isaiah 9:6-7a 
Israel. Here’s Christ in His earthly ministry, Jesus is speaking, and he says: 
John 8:51-58 
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. No Gentiles here.)Abraham is dead, the prophets; (they’re dead) and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. 53. Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead: and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?" 54. Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; whom ye say, that he is your God. Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, (who?) Revelation 1:9a 
"I John who also am your (what?) brother, (now spiritually of course. tribulation,…" Now, you’ve got to remember, these Jews to whom these men are writing, Peter, James and John, were already under a lot of persecution, even before the Tribulation began. Revelation 1:9b 
Revelation 1:9b 
"…for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ." It may have been a normal life for John on the island of Patmos. Now, verse 10. Revelation 1:10a 
"I was in the Spirit (that is under the control of the Spirit of God) on the Lord’s day,…" No – What is the day of the Lord in Scripture? Tribulation! 
Never forget that.

Revelation 1:4a 
"John to the seven churches…" The seven churches – Jewish churches, remember. Jews have been scattered out of the Jewish Jerusalem Church, which had begun in Christ’s earthly ministry. James 2:2a 
"For if there come unto your (now the English translations have the word) assembly…" Synagogues…" Revelation 1:4b 
I think I can safely say anytime you see a reference to the seven Spirits of God, or the seven Spirits of Christ, this is the best Biblical explanation. Isaiah 11:1-2 
Revelation 1:5a 
"And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth.…." 
Now, I suppose that’s another term that has been totally, totally misunderstood across a good portion of Christendom "The only begotten Son of God." 
Most people have got the idea that refers to Bethlehem when He was born a babe in the manger, the Son of God. God the Son has been just as much pre-eternal as God the Father and God the Spirit. "God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm (Psalms 2) Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. No one had ever died and been resurrected before Christ. See, the widow’s son was called back to life, but he died. Lazarus died, was called back to life. He wasn’t resurrected – he died again. 
But when Christ died and rose from the dead, never again to face death or corruption, he then became the only begotten Son of God because no one else had ever died and been raised from the dead. 
Now, let’s follow that up then with Romans chapter 1. Romans 1:1-4 
"Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, 2. It’s His resurrection power. 
Now of course, everybody has been talking, talking, talking about the movie, "The Passion of Christ." It opposed death, it opposed the satanic powers, it opposed all the false religions of this world. The resurrection set everything free. 
Never forget that!! Back to Revelation chapter 5, again. 
Revelation 1:5a 
"And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten (or called to life) from the dead,…" Never to face death again! And Jesus Christ was the first to have experienced that. Now, finishing the verse. Revelation 1:5b 
Revelation 19:16

"…loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood." We, too, have been cleansed from sin, we’ve been forgiven, as Paul says in Roman. Go back to Romans chapter 3. Romans 3:24 
Now, I always remind my listeners, when did God lose the human race? By paying the price. And what’s the price of redemption? The blood of Christ. "Whom (Jesus Christ in verse 24) God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,…" Here we have Jesus about to wash the disciples’ feet. All right now, let’s just go all the way up to verse 2, let’s just take this verse by verse. John 13:2a 
"And supper…" John 13:1-6 
3. Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and he was come from God, and went to God; (speaking of Jesus of Nazareth now) 
6. Then cometh to Simon Peter; and Peter said unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet?" What do you suppose Peter did with his feet? Put ‘em back under and he says, "Lord you’re not going to wash my feet!" John 13:7-8a 
8. Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet…." Peter was a master at putting his foot in his mouth. You’re not going to wash my feet!! John 13:8b 
"…Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me." John 13:9 
"Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord not my feet only, but also my hands and my head." In other words what’s he saying? Now, look what Jesus answers in verse 10: 
John 13:10 
"Jesus saith to him, He that is washed (he that’s been to the bath house) needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all." 
That’s the purpose of the bath, and so Peter you’ve been bathed. John 13:11 
Now, what was the purpose of the foot washing? We’re cleansed by saturating ourselves with the Word. 
God knows we are constantly rubbing elbows, we are constantly having concourse with the unbelieving world. Ephesians 5:26 
"That he (God) might sanctify and cleanse it (that is members of the Body of Christ. You and I as believers are not washed with the blood of Christ here, but with what?) the washing of water by word." Well, there’s only one way you can wash it. "By heeding thereto the Word of God." We are defiled by simply living in this sin cursed world. The Word of God. And you wake up in the middle of the night, you should be thinking the Word of God.

I think I can safely say anytime you see a reference to the seven Spirits of God, or the seven Spirits of Christ, this is the best Biblical explanation. Isaiah 11:1-2

"And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth.…."
Now, I suppose that’s another term that has been totally, totally misunderstood across a good portion of Christendom "The only begotten Son of God."

So let’s go back to John’s Gospel chapter 14 and I just want to show again the stark difference between what was taught in Jesus’ earthly ministry and what Paul teaches in the Church Age of us today on this same subject. John 14:13-14 
Philippians 4:6a 
Now I know there are those who hold that God is not concerned about our physical or material needs. Philippians chapter 4 verse 6. 
Philippians 4:6a 
I don’t care where we are in our spiritual experience we never stop thanking God for everything. Constantly. Luxury. 
Philippians 4:6b 
"…let your requests be made known unto God." 
Now God may say, ‘Yes.’ Philippians 4:7a 
"And the peace of God,…" 
Now I always make the differential again, back in Romans 5:1 "we have the peace with God," which was our salvation experience. Now the peace with God that comes by faith, in other words, we’re no longer an enemy, we’re now at peace with God. 
But this here in Philippians is not peace "with" God; but now we have the "peace of God." 
Can someone who is not at peace with God ever enjoy the peace of God? Philippians 4:7 
"And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,…" 
Philippians 4:7b 
Now I don’t have to go back to John and say, "Well now God you promised that whatever I asked, You’ll do it." The peace of God keeps us through all that. 
And if there’s someone out there, a true believer, and you’re in financial straights, don’t despair. God is still on the throne. God is still in control. God will somehow or other bring you through it. All right, great big difference. Big difference. I John chapter 5, now verse 16. I John 5:16a 
"If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death…." 
I John 5:16b 
"…There is a sin unto death;…" 
In other words, even in the Jewish economy, if a Jew would not refrain from living a life of sin and would not come back into fellowship, God would take His physical life. All right, let’s go back and see how Paul dealt with it. My goodness, God can bring bad health, God can bring financial disaster for the sole purpose of strengthening our faith. All right, I Corinthians chapter 11 drop down to verse 28, 29 and 30. I Corinthians 11:28-29 
Now verse 30. 
I Corinthians 11:30 
I Corinthians 5:2 
See what Paul is saying? That if this individual did not come back from that sinful lifestyle, God would take him. Oh, I know it’s hard for some people to swallow, but he wouldn’t lose his salvation, but God would take his physical life. All right, read on. Verse 3. 
I Corinthians 5:3-5 
4. In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, (in other words, in the realm of the spiritual congregation there at Corinth) when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, (in other words, Paul even though not present would be present with them, probably prayerfully that they would be able to handle this) with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5. All right, now then, he comes down to verse 9, and having consort with a believer who is in gross sin that was one thing and that had to be dealt with. I Corinthians 5:9-10 
I Corinthians 5:11-13 
do not ye judge (or deal) with those that are within. Verse 18. I John 5:18a 
"We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not;…" 
Have you known people who claim to be believers and that they’re so holy that they don’t sin anymore? There’s no such thing as living in the flesh and being totally above sin. The new man cannot sin, it’s Divine, it’s from God Himself. We have the new Divine nature as a result of God’s saving us, but we’re still kept with that old Adamic nature. Verse 16. 
Galatians 5:16 
The Spirit will never direct a believer into a lustful experience. That’s not the Spirit’s domain. Now here’s the reason, verse 17. 
Galatians 5:17a 
The old nature) lusteth (or in another portion the word is ‘wareth’) lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary one to the other:…" 
Galatians 5:17b 
Right back down stream. All right, the Christian life is the same way. Galatians 5:18 
"But if we’re led of the Spirit, (we keep that paddle in the water) ye are not under the law." 
The old sin nature is listed right up there in verse 19, 20, 21 and they are terrible. Galatians 5:22-23 
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness and faith. Totally different makeup than the flesh. Turn back to Romans chapter 7, and this is why the believer is under totally different circumstances than the Jewish believer under nothing more than the Mosaic system. All right, got Romans chapter 7 verse 5 and 6.

Many think the Church is Israel, and Israel is the Church. But if the Word is rightly divided as Paul tells us to do, then just leave the Scriptures where they are. We’re in I John chapter 5 verse 11. 
I John 5:11 
"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son." 
John is part and parcel of the four gospels. Well and good. Amazing! 16. And Simon Peter answered and said, (here it is now, watch this) Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." Well, when people tell "that Peter preached the same salvation message that Paul did," you see I have to differ with them, because Peter would have had to include "That Jesus died for your sins, was buried, and rose again," as we see in Paul’s Gospel of salvation in I Corinthians 15:1-4, and he doesn’t. 
All Peter knows is who Jesus was. Just exactly like John says in his epistle. If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, those Jews had eternal life. You don’t get saved by simply believing who Jesus was, you have to go on now to the rest of God’s eternal purposes and that’s what? Eternal life. 
In fact, I said in the last lesson that I couldn’t find eternal life in Paul’s epistles. Come up with me to John’s Gospel chapter 11, and we’re at the death of Lazarus. John 11:23b-27 
John 11:27 
"She saith unto him, yea Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world." What did God tell Israel? Look at what Paul says here in Romans. Romans 10:9 
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, (or that Jesus is Lord) and shall believe in thy heart that God hath raised him from the dead, (now I know it doesn’t say that He died, but certainly in order to be raised from the dead, what’s implied? He died. Right?) thou shalt be saved." 
Now here’s why in verse 10. 
Romans 10:10 
"For with the heart, (not head knowledge, but rather heart knowledge) man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." 
If you’re saved, you can’t keep it to yourself. All right, and that’s all this verse means. Romans 10:11-12 
"For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. Israel is going to be out of the land, all right, so it stands to reason that God drops the gate on that Jewish plan of salvation, which we call the Gospel of the Kingdom, and that was for their salvation they had to believe who Jesus was. 
Romans 10:13 
" For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." 
That is recognizing His death, burial and resurrection remember, and faith in that shall be saved! Romans 10:14-16 
Romans 10:17 
"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing (cometh) by the word of God." 
Can you believe something that God has never spoken? Can you believe something that God has never said? No! So if God hasn’t said it, He can’t require mankind to believe it. So don’t ever accuse God of being unfair. 
Well in the early moments of our first program this afternoon, we showed you that this Gospel of salvation that Paul proclaims was kept hidden. "For the secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us…" 
God kept this glorious Gospel of Grace secret. Jesus never revealed it in His earthly ministry. Let’s pickup with verse 24. Romans 3:24a 
Now see in Galatians, Paul would put it, "not by works of righteousness, what we have done, but it’s by God’s Grace" 
Romans 3:24b-25 
"…through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God:" 
blood!" Now John does make one reference in I John when he says that "the blood of Jesus cleanseth us from all sin." Now verse 26. 
Romans 3:26a 
What God had revealed. And what has God revealed? Absolutely, we have eternal life. 
The Gospel of salvation that we must believe for eternal life. 
I Corinthians 15:1-2 
"Moreover, brethren, (Paul is writing to believers) I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also you received and wherein you stand; 2. Now verse 3. I Corinthians 15:3 
Don’t ever accuse the Apostle Paul of being an egotist. We have eternal life for believing that! All right, now then, let’s go back to I John again, and see if we can make a little headway. Paul uses the word eternal life here. 
eternal life, whereunto thou art also called and hath professed a good profession before many witnesses." 
As long a God lives! All right, back to I John, now verse 14. This is another good one, and it too is right out of the Gospel of John. 
I John 5:14-15

Does God do everything you ask Him to do today? Heaven on earth.

1 John 5:1-7 
All right, now let’s go back to I John chapter 5. I John 5:6 
"This is he (Jesus of Nazareth) that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit (the Holy Spirit) that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth." 
Now, in these next two programs, over these next several verses, I’m going to try and answer the question that comes in so often to the ministry – "Was Jesus Christ God?" God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. A Triune Godhead, which theologians have coined the term the ‘Trinity.’ All right, let’s go right back and look at it in verse 1. John 3:1-3 
2. The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." Now back in the Old Testament that concept wasn’t known. Let’s go back to Zechariah, the next to the last book in the Old Testament, because I think that the prospect of Israel in the Old Testament was still that they could go into the Kingdom as God’s Covenant People and,, in turn, then be the evangelists to bring the salvation to the Gentiles, which would mean that they’re in the Kingdom as lost people. Zechariah chapter 8, verse 20. Zechariah 8:20-23 
22. Yea, many people and strong nations (of the Gentile world) shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD. Israel dropped the ball when they rejected the Messiah and the King and the Kingdom and they will never have this opportunity. Now you see, even though this is the first time this kind of language is brought to pass in Scripture, these Old Testament saints had a salvation experience. Go back to Isaiah, chapter 61. I want you to see that the Old Testament Jew had a knowledge of a salvation. Isaiah 61:10a 
"I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for (this is why) he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation,.…" Isaiah knew that he had salvation; he was a saved man. And salvation and saved are synonymous. 
You don’t see born-again, at least that I’m aware of, anywhere in the Old Testament. Paul never uses the term born-again. Now verse 4, this is a tough statement for old Nicodemus. Am I right? Sure, you’ve all experienced it. All right, Nicodemus is no different. John 3:4 
"Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?" For an educated man? John 3:5b 
Don’t lose me. I John says of the water and of the spirit. All right,) of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." 
Now what’s Jesus saying? Water! God’s not dealing with angels on this basis; He’s dealing with humans. All right, so unless you are born into the human race; unless you have experienced a physical water birth from a human mother and then be born of the Spirit (salvation birth), you can’t enter Heaven. 
A human being. Born into the human race in a water birth, a physical birth, and then born into the family of God by the work of the Holy Spirit. I John 5:6 
"This is he (Jesus of Nazareth) that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. Before Jesus of Nazareth could become the "God - Man." Man. Flesh. The "God - Man." That’s the way I look at it and all of Scripture is pointing this out that the God of Glory, the God of Creation would one day take on human flesh - be born of the virgin. 
Because a human father could never have given rise to the divine, sinless blood of Christ. That blood had to originate with God the Father. Never. Beautiful. Well you see, my answer was and is, "You’ve got to remember that when Jesus prayed from His humanity, He would pray to the Father." "The Father." So here we have this "God-Man," born of the human woman. Galatians 4:4 
"But when the fullness of the time was come, God (not Joseph and Mary) sent forth his Son, (but what?) If time permits then we’ll look briefly at Luke chapter 3, which is genealogy on Mary’s side of the tree, because there are two family lines that come down from David. 
Matthew 1:1 
"The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham." All right, David would be the beginning, then, of the royal family bloodline, the House of David. Now in Mary’s genealogy, which we’re going to pick up right away in the next program, you’ve got to turn to Luke chapter 3.

We’ll be looking at Paul’s Grace message in just a little bit. Prophecy. 
And so over and over throughout the Old Testament was this constant promising a prophesied King and Kingdom for the Nation of Israel. An earthly Kingdom. Romans 15:8a 
"Now I say that Jesus Christ (what’s the verb?) Romans 15:8 
circumcision (and who’s circumcision in Scripture? Israel!) for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:" It wasn’t Paul’s idea. Israel’s forefathers. "To fulfill the promises made to the Nation of Israel." And what were those promises? All right, God raised Him from the dead. Nothing of calling out a body of Gentiles, which we call the Church. Unknown to all of these Jewish men and prophets and everyone else, the Kingdom message and promises would be interrupted. It’s all Jewish. 
"Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God:.…" Not a word about the cross. The whole concept is that if you believe that Jesus is the Christ, you are born of God. All right, now let’s go back and let’s look at the Gospel of salvation for today. You know it’s amazing what God uses. All right, so Romans chapter 2 verse 16. Paul shouldn’t even be in here. Romans 2:16 
"In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men (that is the heart) by Jesus Christ (Who will be the Judge. according to my gospel." What has lost mankind done with Paul’s gospel. "In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel." To set it apart from the Kingdom Gospel! Two Gospels? Now it’s one Gospel of salvation and that’s Paul’s Gospel. All right, what is Paul’s Gospel? Come over with me to 
Not Jesus’, Not John’s, but rather, Paul’s Gospel. And what is Paul’s Gospel?) and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world (ages) began," Now you see, this is why Peter, James and John couldn’t preach it. It wasn’t time to reveal that to Peter, James and John. There’s no more addressing the Nation of Israel. I Corinthians 1:17-18 
18. For the preaching of the cross (that’s Paul’s Gospel) is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved, it is (the preaching of the cross) the power of God." 
I Corinthians 1:23 
"But we preach Christ (what?) Not one mention of God. All right, now let me take you to another one over in Romans chapter 3 verse 23. This is the very first step of God’s saving grace; for us to understand that we need the Gospel of salvation. Why? 
Romans 3:23 
"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Next verse says: 
Romans 3:24a 
grace.…" That’s one of Paul’s favorite words. It’s the grace of God that has now been poured out on Christ-rejecting mankind. 
Romans 3:24-25a 
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood,.…" 
Now I’ve got to stop right there. Never! Never! All I maintain is that Paul is the Apostle to whom this Gospel was revealed. You don’t worship Paul. You worship the Christ that Paul presents. I think Paul even told the Corinthians, "Paul didn’t die for you. Christ did." All right, so now read on in verse 25. 
Romans 3:25b 
Now verse 26. Romans 3:26 
"To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he (God) might be just, (God never cuts corners. God never compromises. No works. YOU TAKE GOD AT HIS WORD. 
Romans 3:27-28 
of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Move on to chapter 4 verse 5. This is Paul. Nothing to do with Israel and the promises. This has to do with the eternal purposes of God. Verse 5: 
Romans 4:5 
Now come into chapter 5 verse 1. 
Romans 5:1 
"Therefore being justified by faith, (faith in what? Jesus Christ and that finished work of the cross; where He died for us and was buried and rose from the dead; and because we have faith in that finished work for salvation, now) we have (what?) peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:" 
If you’re an enemy, there’s no peace. By faith, we’ve been justified and we’re no longer an enemy - we’re a child - and consequently, "we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." That’s Paul. 
All right, now then, let’s come on a little further. Chapter 7. Romans 7 dropping in at verses 5 and 6. Now Paul writes: 
Romans 7:5-6 
Breaking the Law. All right, same reference. We’re not under the Law. 
All right, back up to chapter 6 - that just reminded me of verse 14. Romans 6 verse 14, the last half of the verse. 
Romans 6:14b 
"…for ye are not under the law, but under grace." Granted that this Jesus, this Christ was the Son of God. I Corinthians 15:1-2 
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2. Now here’s The Gospel by which mankind is saved during this Age of Grace.

Now, if you were to ask a friend or a loved one, "If you were to die tonight, why do you think God would let you into His Heaven?" And if that loved one would say "Well I believe that Jesus is the Son of God." John makes it just as plain as language can make it that, "whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God." Not a word about His death, shed blood, resurrection, only Who Jesus of Nazareth really is or was. Israel’s Messiah, the Son of God. That was the Gospel of the Kingdom salvation message. 
All right, Matthew chapter 16, and we’re going to drop in at verse 13. Matthew 16:13 
"When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?" Matthew 16:14a 
"And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist:…." 
Here’s twelve men. And twelve men are twelve men of any time. All right, now verse 15, Jesus came back: 
Matthew 16:15 
Matthew 16:16 
"And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, (the Anointed One, the Messiah) the Son of the Living God.’" Just exactly what John said back here in I John, "that if you believe that Jesus was the Son, then you have eternal life." 
All right, so Peter answered, "Thou art the Christ the Son of the Living God." Does Jesus come right back and say, "But now Peter, is that all?" Jesus is perfectly content with that answer. All right, so that’s all they were to know and believe for salvation, was the message known as the Kingdom Gospel – Who Jesus was. 
So stop in at John’s gospel chapter 11, and we’re going to drop in at verse 23. John 11:23-24 
"Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. The Sadducees didn’t, but the rest of the Jewish people did. John 11:25-27 
Believest thou this? (now watch her confession of faith) 27. She saith unto him, Yeah, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world." Any reference to a death and resurrection? "Thou art the Christ. You are the Son of God Who will be the Messiah the King of Israel." What is faith? "TAKING GOD AT HIS WORD." But you can’t take God at a word that He hasn’t spoken. I’m going to stop at chapter 3. 13. The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers,.…" God has raised Him from the dead so that He can still fulfill the promises that were made to Israel in the Old Testament. All right, now here comes the answer, verse 16. 
This man understood that Jesus of Nazareth, Whom these people had followed, was the Christ! The name of Jesus of Nazareth was the same as Messiah, Son of God; but notice, not one word about His work of the cross for salvation. But it was through faith in His name that made this man whole. So what’d this lame man understand? Who Jesus was. All right, so now verse 35 of Acts 8. 
"Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, (Isaiah 53) and preached unto him Jesus. Beginning with John the Baptist’s ministry and all the way through Christ’s ministry; and for Peter in Acts chapter 2:38, what belongs with repentance - what was the other object? Water baptism. (be baptized) And he (the eunuch) answered and said, (now watch his confession of faith) I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." 
Period. Not a word about the resurrection. Only to know Who Jesus really was. Just exactly like the verse we just saw in I John, "that He is the Son of God." 
Well, naturally, Saul of Tarsus is going to later on preach the Gospel of the Grace of God, which is "we preach Christ crucified!"Now verse 4, 
Acts 9:4 
"…Who art thou, Lord?.…" Any word about the cross? Does Jesus say, I’m the One Who died for you Saul? Does Jesus say, I’m the One Who rose from the dead? "The Son of God!" "The Son of God. The Promised King of Israel." Because God is Sovereign. Salvation. 
"That Christ died for your sins. Yes, He is the Son of God, but He died for your sins. Right on up until He finally shuts the gate on Israel’s Gospel of the Kingdom and puts everything under the Gospel of Grace; until that time, salvation was to believe Who Jesus really was. 
All right, we’ve got one minute left. Let’s come back to I John chapter 4. I John 4:17-18a 
See now, this was all language just like in John’s Gospel. I John 4:19-20a 
20. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar:.…" See almost identical with what Jesus spoke in His earthly ministry.

I John 4:6 
"We (John writes) are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; (in other words we can converse with fellow believers) he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error." I left off at verse 7, "the speaking of wisdom of God in a mystery." I Corinthians 2:9 
"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." 
Because you see, coming out of verse 9, "the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him." 
There’s just no way we can figure out all that God has done. All right, but now look what he says, "These things God has prepared for them that love him. Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, but (the flipside) God has revealed them to us by his Spirit." "…for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? (in other words, how can a human understand human things unless he’s a human? It’s just as illogical for a lost man to understand the things of God as for a dog to understand human practice. It is utterly impossible for lost people to comprehend the Word of God. Well naturally! I Corinthians 2:12 
"Now we have received, (we believers) not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; (the things pertaining to God) that we might know the things which are freely given to us of God." The Spirit will reveal it freely. All right, now verse 13. 
I Corinthians 2:13 
I Corinthians 2:14 
"But the natural man (the unsaved person) receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: (he can’t because the Spirit can only work through the believer) for they (the things of God) are (what?) All right, since you’re in Corinthians, you might as well go a few pages to the right to II Corinthians chapter 4. II Corinthians chapter 4 and drop in at verse 3. II Corinthians 4:3-4 
All right now let’s come back. By virtue of their faith in Who Jesus of Nazareth really was, God has reckoned them as saved. I John 4:7 
"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth (that is someone else) is born of God, and knoweth God." Well, here again, John stops short of what we would call Paul’s Gospel. All right, now verse 8. 
I John 4:8 
"He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." All right, but Paul does as well. Paul speaks of love and so I’m going to look at that one in Romans chapter 13. And here we’re speaking of this same agape love. 
Romans 13:8a 
"Owe no man anything,.…" Don’t defraud. Romans 13:8b 
"…but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law." Consequently, verse 9. Paul doesn’t leave us lawless. Because as soon as you commit adultery you’re not showing love for the God that has saved you. "…Thou shalt not kill, (well that’s obvious. You can’t kill somebody that you love) Thou shalt not steal, (that’s obvious also, you can’t steal from somebody if you love them) Thou shalt not bear false witness, (how can you gossip, or lie about someone that you love? Because love works no ill to his neighbor. So the whole concept of God is love! Paul makes mention of nine of the Ten Commandments. Ephesians 6:1-2 
Chapter 4 verse 9. 
I John 4:9 
"In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him." All right, verse 10. 
I John 4:10a 
"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us,.…" The whole work of the cross was triggered by God’s love for mankind. Romans chapter 15 verse 8. Romans 15:8 
"Now I say that Jesus Christ was (past tense) a minister of the circumcision (that’s Israel) for the truth of God, to confirm (or bring to fruition or to fulfill) the promises made unto(whom?) the fathers:" Well who were the fathers in Scripture? Now back to I John 4, and verse 10 again. There’s a tremendous word here that I just can’t slip over in that verse. 
I John 4:10 
"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and he sent his Son, (there’s that S-o-n capitalized) to be the propitiation for our sins." 
I John 2:2 
All right so, the propitiation for our sins. Romans 3:23-26 
25. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; (but I have to take the next verse as well) 26. All right, now to the propitiation. What are Paul and John talking about? Mercy.

Okay, let’s get right back to where we were I John chapter 3 and let’s look at verse 23. 
I John 3:23 
Peter and John have just healed the lame man and the Jews, of course, are wondering, "How did they do this?" All right, but now verse 12, after Peter recognizes that they’re all wondering up there in verse 11 and they’re amazed. I John 3:23a 
"And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another,.…" Who Jesus of Nazareth was. Nobody has told these Jews to stop Temple worship. All right, now let’s back up a little bit, and come back to Matthew chapter 9 verse 35. 
Matthew 9:35 
the gospel of the kingdom, (now see how plain that is? He is preaching the gospel of the kingdom.) and healing every sickness and every disease among the people." 
All right, this Gospel of the Kingdom, then, is not for anybody but Israel. Now verse 5 – my goodness, this is plain language. Matthew 10:5 
Matthew 10:6 
Now I said earlier today that when the Tribulation begins, the Church is gone, the Gospel of Grace has come to an end, and so what Gospel has to pick up again? Well, the Gospel of the Kingdom! Matthew 24:14 
"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." 
Why this gospel of the kingdom? When will they start preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom again? Well, let’s go to John’s Gospel chapter 11, and the death of Lazarus. John 11:23-27 
"Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Now for Martha’s answer.) 27. She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world." Jesus didn’t ask for anything more. All right, now to this Ananias, verse 11. 
13. Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem. Gentiles,.…"What a difference! 
What did Jesus say to the disciples? The Jews were never instructed to go and evangelize the Gentiles. My, how that man’s heart must have sunk when God told him, "I’m going to send you to the Gentiles." All right, Acts 22 verse 17. Verse 17. 
Now remember this is Luke quoting Paul. Paul is speaking to a great crowd in Jerusalem. Even though we know Luke wrote the book of Acts, nevertheless, it’s Paul that is speaking to a large Jewish audience. 
Paul’s epistles. All right, verse 18. 
21. And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles." Now look at the next verse. 
One word. All right, Romans chapter 2 verse 16 is a good one to start with. "My Gospel." All right, let’s look quickly, verse 16. 
Romans 2:16 
"In the day (the Great White Throne Judgment day) when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel." That’s what men are going to be judged by, what have you done with Paul’s Gospel? Well then they’re going to be before that Great White Throne having to admit that they did nothing with Paul’s Gospel, which means they’re lost. Romans 16:25 
my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began," That’s who he writing to, he’s writing to those of us who have placed our faith in Paul’s Gospel. Not Paul, but Paul’s Gospel of salvation. And what is Paul’s Gospel? "The preaching of Jesus Christ, (not according to His earthly ministry, not according to the promises made to the prophets, but)…the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation (or a revealing, an unveiling) of the mystery (the secret) which was kept secret since the world began." Paul’s Gospel. Galatians 2:1-2 
2. And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain." Now the key word in this verse is ‘that.’ In Matthew 24:14, I wanted you to underline ‘this,’ But now Paul makes a distinction that he clarified to the Jerusalem church – "that gospel which I preached among (what people?) the Gentiles." "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel (he could just as well have said, ‘my’ Gospel) which I preached unto you, which also you have received, (they’re believers now, remember, brought out of paganism and idolatry and immorality) and wherein ye stand; 2. I Corinthians 15:3-4 
"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, (from the risen Lord) how that Christ (the Son of God) died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4. And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to scriptures:" Now that’s Paul’s Gospel of salvation that we must believe for eternal life.

I John 3:1-24 
It’s the Word of God that’s powerful, not Les Feldick. 
Okay, now I think we’re ready to go back to I John chapter 3 and we’ve finished verse 9, let’s jump in at verse 10. 
I John 3:10 
"In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother." John is emphasizing the ‘doing’ part. It’s works. Never leave faith out of the mix, but for Israel it was faith and works. Exodus 19:3-4 
Exodus 19:5-6 
Now look at the next verse, verse 7. 
Well what is that? That’s works. All right, now, if you’ll come back with me to I John again for a moment, and let’s look at verse 10 again – and for these Jews that John is writing to, this is right on. 
I John 3:10b 
"…whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,...." 
Remember the setting of this counsel – Paul and Barnabas, his helper, were taking the Gospel of salvation now to the Gentile world and they were establishing these little congregations. Galatians 2:7 
"But contrariwise, (on the other hand) when they (Peter, James and John and maybe the rest of the leadership) saw (understood) that the gospel of the uncircumcision (that’s Gentiles, non-Jews) was committed unto me, (Paul, who’s writing) as the gospel of the circumcision (Israel) was unto Peter;" Now for twenty years I’ve been trying to get people to see that’s two different economies. Peter and the Twelve are ministering to the circumcision – Israel. Paul and Barnabas have now been commissioned to go to the Gentiles. All right, so the Gospel of the uncircumcision – the Gospel of Grace or Paul’s Gospel, was committed unto Paul. But, the Gospel of the circumcision, which was called the Gospel of the Kingdom back in Matthew was committed unto Peter and the Eleven. 
Galatians 2:8 
Peter and Israel and Paul and the Gentile world. Galatians 2:9 
perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision." James, and Peter and John now, make a hand-shake gentlemen’s agreement that they would mind their business with Israel and Paul would keep going to the Gentiles. to the circumcision (to Israel.)" 
A gentlemen’s agreement – Paul your ministry is to Gentiles. For us, it’s the Nation of Israel. Consequently, these little Jewish epistles are according to that agreement; James writes to the Twelve Tribes; Peter writes to those scattered abroad – Jews; and John also is writing to the Nation of Israel. Okay, back to I John chapter 3, and I emphasize that these are Jewish epistles, written to Jews and with nothing really of Paul’s Gospel of Grace, because that was for the Gentiles at that time. 
The Gospel is for everyone. Jew or Gentile. But at this point in time it was still keeping separated until such time as God drops the gate on the Jewish economy and everybody comes under the Gospel of Grace. Verse 11: 
I John 3:11 
Love. Love one another. And you go back to John’s Gospel, it’s love and love and love. Not that Paul ignores it, but he does not emphasize the love like John does. 
I John 3:12 
"Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous." Cain was inspired of Satan to rise up and kill his righteous brother, Abel. did Cain kill Abel? All those men were destitute of faith. Fear of God. Because if evolution is true, there’s no God. Well, if there’s no God, there are no absolutes. God is moot. All right, back to I John chapter 3, so don’t be like "Cain who slew his brother because his own works were evil, but Abel was righteous." I John 3:13 
"Marvel not my brethren, if the world (this world system does what? I John 3:14 
(the fellow believers.) All right, "He that loveth not his brother abideth in death." Verse 15. 
I John 3:15 
"Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." Right back to the words of the Lord Jesus Himself. A murderer can become a believer and inherit eternal life. But, that’s not what John is talking about. He’s talking about the unrepentant, unsaved individual who hates his brother; he hates believers and he’s a murderer in God’s eyes. Now verse 16; we come back again to the love concept. 
I John 3:16 
"Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren." Verse 17. 
I John 3:17 
How can the love of God dwell in that person? All right, now then verse 18. 
I John 3:18 
I John 3:19-22 
20. For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. 21. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. Does that sound like Paul?

Christ came the first time, but the Nation of Israel rejected Him, but in the near future, we feel, as did John, that He is going to return and yet give the kingdom to Israel. Now, just as surely as when John and Peter and James were writing these little Jewish epistles, Israel was in the land, the city of Jerusalem was their capital. So let’s start at verse 19. 
I John 2:19 
I John 2:20 
"But (John writes) ye have an unction (or you have a directive) from the Holy One, and ye know all things." As God reveals it. And again the Apostle Paul makes the same point that it’s our indwelling Holy Spirit who makes the difference. Come back with me to Romans chapter 7, and verses 4, 5, 6 – these key verses that we need to compare with. 
Romans 7:4a 
"Wherefore, my brethren, ye also (Paul writes) are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; (by His crucifixion) that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead,.…" Now Paul is always emphasizing the resurrection. It’s not enough to believe that Christ died; it’s not enough to believe that He was the Messiah; we have to believe that the Messiah, the Son of God, the Christ that died for our sins, rose from the dead. Otherwise Paul’s Gospel of salvation is not complete. "…that we should bring forth fruit unto God. "Thou shalt not covet. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not commit adultery" etc. Romans 7:5 
Now verse 6. 
Romans 7:6a 
All right, so we were dead when the Law was constantly condemning us, but now: 
Romans 7:6a 
What Spirit? Romans 7:6b 
All right, come back with me to I John, chapter 2. I John 2:21-22 
"I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is anti-christ, that denieth the Father and the Son." 
When I say that this is Kingdom ground, and that these are Kingdom believers, remember now that John is talking about recognizing Who Jesus really is, for salvation. Nobody had said, forget the Law. "…Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? Now does Jesus upbraid him? Does Jesus scold him? Matthew 16:17 
"And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven." Does a person become a believer and then the Holy Spirit enlightens?" "Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias (Isaiah), and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? That told him all about Isaiah 53, and how that was Jesus the Christ, the Son of the living God. 
Acts 8:35 
"Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus." However Philip knows nothing about faith in the death, burial or resurrection for salvation. So he just preached Jesus. Along with the preaching that Jesus was the Christ, what did John the Baptist begin with? Lets back up to Acts chapter 3, and here Peter has just healed the lame man. So here these Jewish people are all uptight – how did Peter and John perform such a miracle, and they couldn’t remember eight weeks back? Peter is explaining to these Jews by what power they healed this man. 
The Anointed One. The Christ. The Son of God. Let’s come back now to I John chapter 2. All right, but now verse 23. 
I John 2:23 
That Jew who could embrace Jesus of Nazareth as the Christ became in God’s eyes a righteous individual. Now verse 25.

12. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again, which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat." Now Paul says to these Corinthian believers, up there in Corinth (Gentiles primarily): 
Paul says I have to write to you) even as unto babes in Christ,. 3. For ye are yet carnal:.…" I Corinthians 3:3 
are ye not carnal, and walk as men?" All right, come back with me again to I John. Now verse 28. 
I John 2:28a 
Now remember we went back to the vine and the branches – how that the believers in Christ’s earthly ministry were already abiding in Him and God was in them but in a different way than when Christ indwells a believer in the Church Age. 
I John 2:28b 
All right, Acts chapter 1, verse 10, and this is at the ascension off the Mount of Olives. 
Acts 1:10 
Not in some invisible spirit. Which also said, ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? All right, now let’s go back to the Old Testament prophecies – Zechariah chapter 14, and verse 4. And this is exactly what John is preparing his fellow believers for. 
All right this is what John is preparing them for.

1 John 2:1-29 - Part 2
Christ came the first time, but the Nation of Israel rejected Him, but in the near future, we feel, as did John, that He is going to return and yet give the kingdom to Israel. Now, just as surely as when John and Peter and James were writing these little Jewish epistles, Israel was in the land, the city of Jerusalem was their capital. So let’s start at verse 19.

"But (John writes) ye have an unction (or you have a directive) from the Holy One, and ye know all things." As God reveals it. And again the Apostle Paul makes the same point that it’s our indwelling Holy Spirit who makes the difference. Come back with me to Romans chapter 7, and verses 4, 5, 6 – these key verses that we need to compare with.

I John 2:1-29 
Now let’s get right back into our study in I John chapter 2. 
I John 2:15 
"Love not the world, (now the word world here is the Greek word ‘cosmos’ which means the whole world system. Don’t fall in love with this world system) neither the things that are in the world. (in other words, if that’s preeminent in our thinking and all we work for are these things of the world, then) If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." 
Just a blink of the eye." All right, so "Love not the world nor the things that are in the world because if the love of the world is preeminent, then ‘the love of the Father is not in him.’" I John 2:16 
"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, (now remember the lust of flesh isn’t just sexual, but rather anything can take our desires) and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." 
Genesis 3. Right at the beginning of the human experience. All right, remember what they are now. "The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life." All right, now let’s see how Eve had to deal with it. Dropping down to verse 5. 
Genesis 3:5 
"For God (Satan says) doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, (that is of the forbidden fruit) then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."Now verse 6. 
‘A god.’ All right now, it’s interesting then that when you jump back up to the Gospel’s account in the temptations, Jesus faced the very same things. And you start right out with Matthew chapter 4 and verse 1. And so we have these two primary examples of what John calls ‘the things of the world – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and the pride of life." 
Matthew 4:1-3 
Am I right? All right, now Satan knew that. Well now, could Jesus have done it? With a thought. It was temptation to fulfill the lust of the flesh, to satisfy His hunger. Matthew 4:4 
All right, but now you go on: 
Matthew 4:5-9 
7. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt (or test) the Lord thy God. The eye. All right, then the third temptation is, same way with Eve, you could become as god, only here Satan tempts Him with having all the kingdoms of this world. The kingdoms of this world are under the control of the god of this world, and he could offer them. 
How could Satan be naive enough to offer Him the kingdoms of this world, if he truly knows that one day Christ is going to have them anyway? Every one of us believers (or unbelievers alike, makes no difference), we’re all constantly beset with these temptations, which involve the lust of the eye, the pride of life and the lust of the flesh. 
So on the way to I John again, stop at I Corinthians chapter 10 verse 13. It’ll either be the pride of life, the lust of the eye, or the lust of the flesh; but here’s our rescue. 
We have all faced these same categories of temptation. Temptations are going to come. All right, now that’s Paul. Now come back to I John again, chapter 2 verse 17. I John 2:17a 
"And the world passeth away,.…" 
Now for the average individual, after how long a period of time? Eternity is forever, and forever. I John 2:17 
"And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: (Naturally, dead people don’t have the desires of the flesh. Dead people can’t have any desire of the eye. Dead people no longer have any need for pride. Eternity is going to be glorious! 
I John 2:18a 
"Little children, (oh, he loves these Jewish believers. Remember? All right, so here he says it: 
I John 2:18 
All right, what’s the Anti-christ? The primary meaning of the word ‘anti-christ’ is a ‘counterfeit’ Christ. Now if I’m not mistaken, John is the only writer of Scripture that puts this name on this coming world ruler, the Anti-christ. Matthew 24:1 
Matthew 24:2 
"And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? Now verse 3. 
Matthew 24:3 
What’s going to be the sign. Now remember what the Scripture tells us? Matthew 24:4 
"And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man (and I always tell people, underline that next word) deceive you." So what is one of the first signs of the end-time? The world is just getting taken with deception today. Matthew 24:5 
Now, if you kept your finger in John, just flip back to it. What does John say? There will be many false Christs and what does Jesus say? Well what are they? False Christs. All right then, you come back to John’s little letter, and he says, "you have heard that there are many false Christs whereby we know it is the last time." I John 2:19
