Jesus said in Matthew 5 10-12 "Blessed are they who are persecuted". Being persecuted doesn't seem like being blessed does it? Yet Jesus clearly taught in Matthew 5:10-12 that blessed are they who are persecuted. Christ's reasoning was that the persecuted follower of Christ is blessed because they will be rewarded in the next life for their suffering. That's where the faith of the persecuted Christian is really tested.
