Why do we seek Jesus? #Reflectonthis #DailyReflection https://youtu.be/6qYrjHPf1i8

Scripture Reading: Mark 1:29-39
As soon as they left the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told him about her at once. He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them. That evening, at sunset, they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons. And the whole city was gathered around the door. And he cured many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him. In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed. And Simon and his companions hunted for him. When they found him, they said to him, “Everyone is searching for you.” He answered, “Let us go on to the neighboring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there also; for that is what I came out to do.” And he went throughout Galilee, proclaiming the message in their synagogues and casting out demons.

Reflection
Before coming to Simon's house, Jesus had been teaching in the Synagogue on the Sabbath. Here he heals a man with an unclean spirit. The people were so astounded at his teachings and amazed by his power to heal, his fame spread everywhere throughout all the surrounding region. When Jesus arrives at Simon's house, he immediately heals Simon's mother-in-law from her sickness. Now it just happened to be the Sabbath when Jesus healed these two people. He did not wait for the Sabbath to be over. Have we ever thought of his immediate response to our needs? Wherever we are, whatever the time of the day or night, when we call to Jesus, he is there.

The fame of Jesus had already spread, so the people would have heard of Jesus and his healing powers but bound by law, everyone, including the disciples, waited for sunset since it was the Sabbath. This is even though Jesus had already healed two others on the Sabbath. Are we quick to seek Jesus? Or do we also like to wait? And why do we wait? Perhaps there are other matters to be taken care of first with the knowledge that our God will be there when we call out to him. And we can see this happening here. When the people did arrive at Simon's house, he healed all who came. We are told that the entire city was at the door. They reached out to him, and Jesus met their needs.
Jesus meets our needs too. We have seen him healing the blind and the deaf, and feeding the hungry multitude (see Mark 6: 30-43). Scripture says, "God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). But let us ensure we seek him for the reason he came, because Scripture also says, "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew. 6:33).

We find this instruction reflected in today’s passage. The next morning, when the people did not find Jesus, they went desperately searching for this great miracle worker. When the apostles told Jesus that everybody was now searching for him, he said, "Let us go to the neighboring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there. for that is why I came" His primary focus was the salvation of mankind (see Mark 1:38).

So, let us not wait. Let us seek him for the right reasons. We don't want to be left searching. Do we ?
