It has been said that the two things that will make the biggest impact and change in your life over time are the books you read and the people you hang out with, and in the passage that we will be studying in this video we are going to be taking a close look at the type of people we as Christians should be spending time with. In today’s culture wars this is something that is all too important to discuss, since it can be easy for us to either turn our nose up at unsaved people living a sinful life, which only leads to creating barriers that keep them from receiving the gospel, or we stifle our Christian beliefs and make it seem like sin is perfectly okay, never trying to lead them in love to the one person that can wash away sin and make us into a new person. As we study this passage though, we will explore the model and example that Jesus lays before us that perfectly shows how we should be fully in the world, but not of the world. Additionally, in this passage we will also be taking a close look at discipleship and the calling of Matthew where we will also tackle some apologetics as well, and we will also be exploring the statement that Jesus says twice and we also see in Hosea that says, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.”
