How God Heals a Broken Heart by Charlie Orr What causes a broken heart? Guilt – because of sin. Failure to deal with guilt causes more guilt. Grief – sickness regarding loved ones, death of someone, people we love disappoint us. Rejection – Broken relationships through divorce. Affliction – sexual abuse. The Consequences of a broken heart– Bitterness is vented toward God. Bitterness runs deep. If the person who hurt you walks through that door, what will be your feelings toward them? If it is not love, then you are still bitter. Consequences cause barrenness. You've been hurt so you avid people to not get hurt again. Consequences cause bruises. When someone wants to help a person they will either last out or cower. Consequences cause bondage. Bondage givse place to the devil – strongholds are established and you have a spiritual infection. What is the cure for a broken heart? Jesus perceives, cares and understand our broken heart. He felt more hurt than anyone did Isaiah 53:3-4; Hebrews 4:15. Jesus is present to heal your broken heart. Jesus personally invites you to come to Him Matthew 11:28-30. If God saved you by faith, then trust God with your broken heart. Three Questions: 1. Are you God's child? Because you need to establish a sonship/daughtership first otherwise He can't do anything for you. 2. "God, how much do you love me?" He said, "This much" – as he stretched His hands out on the cross. 3. "Jesus, what do You f eel about me?" He said, "There is a balm in Gilead." Come to Jesus admitting you have a broken heart which is the first step toward healing.
