Well tonight, as you know if you were here this morning, I'm going to begin a new series that I've been sort of working on for a long time, a series on origins. The Signs of Christ's Coming - Sermon 1

Starting this morning, we have the privilege to begin a series for which I have waited for many, many years. And that is a study of Matthew 24 and 25, known commonly as "The Olivet Discourse" because it is a sermon given by our Lord to His disciples on the Mount of Olives. The theme of this great se... Looking at the Cross from God's Perspective

I had on this particular trip for the last month the opportunity to be with unbelievers more than I normally would be, to be in their presence and to be somewhat disconnected from the normal circle of Christian friends in which I live and move and have my being. And it continued to make me grateful ... Read More

The Character of God's Word

We, as I said earlier, are going to embark this morning on a study of how to study the Bible, how to get the most out of your Bible. The King Who Would be Man

This time of year, when our thoughts turn toward the wondrous story of our Savior's birth, a lesser-known incident from Jesus' early childhood comes to mind--one I find especially poignant. Before Jesus had reached His second birthday, He had already become the target of an assassination plot by Kin... Read More

What Happens to Christians Who Die? - Sermon 1

"What happens to Christians who die?...what happens to Christians who die?" I'm often asked that even by Christians, in fact usually by Christians. Questions like...after we die, do we go directly to heaven? Or, what happens to our bodies? The details of those kinds of questions are very very import... Read More

God's Loving Discipline - Sermon 1

Recently, it seems as though there have been many difficult tragedies that have occurred in our church family. It wasn't but a few weeks ago, we were with a young couple in our church, the Kneadnogles (sp.), who are dear friends to our family, and they lost their precious little Steven, just a littl... God's Loving Discipline - Sermon 2

Hebrews, chapter 12, verses 5-11. We have been attempting to answer a very important question and that question is: Why do bad things happen to God's people? Why do bad things happen to God's people? The atmosphere in today's evangelicalism--the atmosphere in today's church--which is, I think, in th... Read More

Making Decisions on Non-Moral Issues

I want us to go to Romans, chapter 14, and I want us to look at a principle, which is essential for us to understand. And it is one that is lofty and strategic and we cannot close out this book without some grasp of it. It has to do with the matter of how we live our lives. It is a very practical, v... Read More

The Charismatic Movement and the Sovereignty of Satan

I received an interesting letter the other day. It came from some people who come to Grace [Community] Church from a Charismatic church, a very large, prominent Charismatic church. That's quite a jump--to leave there and come to Grace Church. The only thing they knew in their church about me was tha... Read More

God, The Savior of Men

Luke's gospel, chapter 2. We're beginning a study of Luke. I thought we would move more rapidly than we are. I knew Luke was a great historian, and that is being verified as we go...fastidious, careful with detail. And I knew that Luke was something of a theologian but the more I'm studying this gos... The Child Who was God

It's always a special joy for me, also, to come to the Christmas season and have the opportunity to focus on the simple and yet profound message of the birth of Christ.
